This does not bode well for Police Story.

Just confirms its a poor upscale...anyone from Shout Factory care to comment on why these were used?
What exactly are they supposed to use? These are the existing transfers Fortune Star offers to distributors.

Perhaps view them first, see there up-scales and say "no thanks".
I am not putting the blame solely on Shout Factory, its Fortune Star who are the company at fault.

These upscales are an insult to Jackie Chan's legacy. Seriously, if you compare the quality on both cuts of The Protector, it's insulting. My God!

I don't know this is just my copy, but on the Then and Now featurette for Thre Protector, the song that plays during it sounds defective or distorted during playback, does anybody elses copy have this problem?

Glad I only payed $5.99 for this title brand new at BBY (used a $5 RZ cert and an $5 U&S coupon)

I've now compared Crime Story from the HK DVD and this BD, and it's obviously from the same master, but the DVD has been filtered differently. The colours are a little different and DNR has been applied to the DVD. While the BD now benefits from more detail and film grain/dirt/noise as a result of less/no DNR, it's still an upscale (proven by resizing an HD screenshot to 720x480 and back to 1920x1080 with very little loss in detail). Better, but still not HD.

I might look for this during U&S, if only for the alternate cut of The Protector.

Anyone can tell me the correct running time of crime story?
It says 103 Minutes on the cover, though the HK BD runs 107 Mins. Like the Dragon Dynasty DVD iirc. Is this a misprint or is this kind of a censored version?

Thanks in Advance!
