I wouldn't say ashamed but there are a number of popular films, some considered "classics" that I have never seen and don't plan on seeing anytime soon. Here is my list for you all to pick a part,
Harry Potter The Godfather, I own all three on VHS but haven't gotten around to viewing them yet. Alfred Hitchcock, I have seen the birds and Psycho and that is it nothing else he has ever made. Twilight but I can live without it Titanic, I wish I could say I never seen that one but I had a girlfriend in 97 so there was no getting out of it. 007, I watched Casino Royal and that is it. I don't watch very many older films, I don't buy into the whole notion I am missing out on some hidden gem, those movies are relics of their time, I wasn't there they are generally meaningless to me outside of historical value or vague curiosity. I rarely watch anything older than the late 70's on, Star Wars is about the oldest thing I watch regularly, Rocky is right there next to it and Smokey and the Bandit, anything older than those forget it that's the stuff my parents liked. There are movies I wish I had never seen, but I can't say for sure if there is a movie I am sad I have never watched cuz if I haven't watched it how would I know if I am missing out? I hear people say that crap all the time about such and such and everytime I fall for it I think what the hell this is shit. So I stopped caring what old timers and movie "buffs" think and just watch what I enjoy. |

That's a pretty silly thing to say, I understand that you don't want to watch old films, but that comment doesn't make sense really. A well made film is a well made film regardless of date.

I am not fond of movies that are too real either, or artsy, I prefer to watch movies as escapism and old movies, especially science fiction, fail at that. |
