Shame it isn't 16:9 too. 2.35:1 3D is a bit of a let down I think.
the depth is fantastic. But i was a little disappointed that there wasn't so many pop out scenes. There were some. But the underwater scene and fight with the giant was such impressive 3D

I agree 3D movies should fill the whole screen the 3D is more impressive if it fills the whole screen without these black bars. it should be costum now that the studios make 3D movies in the same format as Avatar where it fills the WHOLE screen

I really never thought that I would be moaning about films in their OAR Good Lord, what have I become!!?!?!? But it is true with 3D at home. Watched all of RE last night and I think if it had been in normal 16:9 then the overall 3D would have been so much better. Don't get me wrong, most of the 3D was good ... especially the fight with the giant, but something was lost. I picked up Monster House the other day cos' it was kinda cheap, but put it back down cos it was in 2.35:1. Years ago I would have put a film down if it WASN'T in 2.35:1

I was buying another BR title for my wife and I decided to make a stop at the 3D section of the big box store. They had this movie on sale for a good price so I had to pick it up.

I've read through the thread so I know what to expect.

My new 3D set won't be delivered till Friday so I'll watch this next weekend.

This is definitely a good choice for any 3D collection. Affordable, and multiple pop outs that are quite impressive. Anyone I have invited over, I have shown this one too, and no one has come away unimpressed.

Me too. If someone wants to see a non-animated 3D film this is the one I show them.

I skimmed over a few pages, but did not see the answer immediately. So here is my question:

If I get the 3D version, do I have the option to watch in 2D as well?

Is this one overall a great horror movie? Or is it more of a splatter-type deal?

The first film is about as close to horror as the series ever got. The rest are very corny, and action oriented only.

Default Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D - I need help turning 3D off

So, the last time I watched this movie, it was when I took my PS3 over to a friend's house who has a 3D tv. Now I'm trying to watch it again on my Sony Bravia that is 2D only, but the PS3 still has it in 3D mode, even when I choose to play from the beginning. I can hear the menu music and sound effects, but since I'm unable to see anything, I was hoping someone here can, I suppose, show me the button combos/layout/order/whatever, to navigate me into turning off 3D please.

after you get past that sony info and the warning and maybe one trailer it should go to the menu (no button presses except fast forward or skip). Once you get to the menu it will default to play movie. Hit enter once. Right once (to select 2d) and enter again. enter again to play

So once you're at the menu: enter, right, enter, enter

hope that works, good luck.

If that doesn't work you could always delete the BD data (under BD data utility) on the ps3

For some reason I couldn't find the BD Data in the utility folder the first time, that was actually one of the first things I originally tried doing, but this time I did find it, but deleting it didn't help, however, your menu guide did! Thanks a bunch!

Rewatched this last night. I ejoy it for the action, visuals and sound but holy lord is this a terrible movie in the writing department. Everything just makes no sense and it is honesly like it's written by a teenager or something. Everything is so illogical! The 3D is great though and there's so many great scenes for showing it off. It can't compete with Retribution in terms of set pieces but it really does look fantastic. I have to say though, i think it's one of the worst Resident Evil's in terms of actual story and dialogue.
"Still in all, every night we does the tell, so that we 'member who we was and where we came from... but most of all we 'members the man that finded us, him that came the salvage. And we lights the city, not just for him, but for all of them that are still out there. 'Cause we knows there come a night, when they sees the distant light, and they'll be comin' home."

There has hardly been anything resembling a story since part 3. However it's a good thing they all turned out to be clones anyway. This allowed for the return of Michelle Rodriguez in Retribution.

Ha true. It just drives me barmy how this one retcons a lot of the stuff from part 3. Like in part 3 she clearly states the oceans have dried up and the world is now a desert, and lo and behold, everything is back to normal for part 4 It winds me up when film makers don't even adhere to their own canon.

Well, without an ocean, they would have had to jettison the awesome sequence on the ship. Not really an option, was it. So to hell with continuity.

Resident Evil has become the ultimate exercise in style over substance. It doesn't even pretend to make sense anymore, but it's a feast for the eyes. Looking forward to the final part.
