You guys are aware that The Hogwarts Collection combines all the Ultimate Editions into one collection right?

Yes, but neither of the 31-disc sets have the books or character cards.

I am so glad that I got my hands on these Ultimate Editions they are awesome looking and plus now I have the complete series on Blu-ray. Sure, took some serious $$ to do it but it was worth it.

Question

Okay, so at an average of $40 each, no way I can afford the 7 Ultimate Editions - especially not after building this new computer.
Alas, the Hogwarts Collection (still out of my league at $152) contains 3-D discs which I can't use. I also checked out the Harry Potter: Complete 8-Film Collection ($64), but it apparently doesn't have the alternate cuts or the extras discs. The UK version ($40) has 11 discs but apparently no alternate cuts and, I assume, not all the extras? Are the alternate cuts worth it? Are the extras (HD or lo-def)? So, bottom line, is there a version which has everything in the Hogwarts set without the 3-D discs - or is that just an unavoidable part of the trip if you want everything, disc-wise?

These questions have been answered repeatedly across various threads and in the site's reviews. Moreover, all you need to do is look at pictures.

The Hogwarts Collection contains both the 2D and 3D discs of both Deathly Hallows movies, so you don't have anything to worry about there. And I would definitely say it's your best bet if you want all the extras from the movies as it's far cheaper than the Wizard's Collection and still includes all the disc based extras, including the extra disc that the Ultimate Editions don't have.

All in all though, you can't go wrong with any of the collector's editions sets really. I've owned all three (Ultimate Editions, Wizard's Collection, and Hogwarts Collections) and they're all fantastic bundles as far as fan service and extras.

Thanks for the cool pix, but really, I only asked one question (which the pix don't answer): "... is there a version which has everything in the Hogwarts set without the 3-D discs - or is that just an unavoidable part of the trip if you want everything, disc-wise?" And I take it from BaerGriggs' post that the answer is "No". Sorry, but I don't do 3-D and would rather not pay for it - but, really, 4,500 posts is a bit much to go thru. And, at least on this site, my searching skills suck.

Nope, it is all or nothing, I'm afraid.
