My next 2 will be...

I really hate that cover for Cub. I don't know why they didn't just use the original poster.

About to buy Kick Ass based on my love of Kingsman.

Looking at my schedule, the next new-release blind-buy for me is Eaten Alive, based on being a fan of Tobe Hooper and Arrow Video.

No more blind buys for me.

Spent almost $300 during the Criterion sale, most of it on blind buys.

Three of the films I'm extremely happy with.

Another 4 or 5 I like but don't love.

And the remaining ones were total duds.

...it's not worth it anymore.

My pattern with Criterion blind-buys has been the same. I find it's easy to burn out on them. Be sure to choose wisely.

I've been getting into some Cronenberg stuff lately so I'll be getting A History of Violence next. I heard it was pretty great.

I thought it was good.

I showed it to my parents, and they thought it was laughably bad.

Everybody looks at it differently, I guess. I still think it's one worth seeing.

Most Criterion releases are super niche movies and acquired tastes, it doesn't seem like a place to start blind-buying. They're also expensive, relative to mainstream stuff.

You really just need to find a genre or style/period you love and blind-buy acclaimed films within those specific areas. That's how it works out best, rather than just buying stuff that is acclaimed in general. I mean, that's my experience talking anyway. Like for me, if Scream Factory release a non-slasher movie, or Arrow Video release a 70's or 80's genre movie, I pretty much know I will enjoy it. You need to figure out a setup like that.

Even if the movie isn't very good, Vincent Price always is.
The Ghostbusters earned their Stripes and to relax decided to go play golf, but got locked in the Caddyshack by the Gopher with The Blues Brothers who are hiding from a Dragnet but luckily they all escaped to The Great Outdoors, where they met a ranger who turned out to be The Man Who Knew Too Little because everything he said was Lost In Translation.
