I also pointed out there's a French Universal release that has all the extras. It used to say Region Free in the database and Universal titles are generally unlocked, but now it says B. Can anyone confirm?
Amazon France says "Touts les regions" (All Regions).

And don't hold your breath. I'm shocked we got Kingdom of Heaven, as Fox is really starting to push digital over Blu-ray. They've stopped sending screeners to most review sites and have drastically cut their catalog titles.

I actually didn't even make it through the first novel. I found the deliberately old-fashioned style awkward to read, too.

That sucks a**. I use Ultraviolet for my iPad to take movies on the go, but I dread the day when digital takes over completely. It really feels like something is being lost.

I agree, because when that happens I doubt it'll ever come back.

Oh I know it won't come back. It'll go the way of VHS and those of us who hold out till the last will just have to hold onto the collections we have and just try to get used to the new way of doing things for new releases. My dad told me the only thing holding them back from going all out now is that not everywhere has the capability to make a full switch yet. I'll miss my making-ofs, but dad also told me they'll be putting them on digital releases too. I'm holding out for Blu and will not surrender to the digital side completely until there is literally no other option. And even then it will be under extreme protest.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing.

In their rush to be first or to publish before street date, reviewers sometimes don't watch a movie all the way from beginning to end or watch all of the special features, including listening to all of the audio commentaries. Thus, they don't notice problems that are caught later by consumers.

The most notorious example is Star Trek: TNG S1, when NONE of the reviewers at any website caught the audio problems. In that case, the reviewers were little more than part of the publicity campaign and did not really do their jobs.

That may not be a bad thing, but the cutting back on catalog releases surely is. They have yet to release Anna and the King on Blu and that is one I would love to get.

Italy Italian Metalpak /FuturePak

I'd like to recommend the new Italian FuturePak of this title that somehow made the journey half way around the world in abysmal packaging from Amazon.IT.

It is a double blu ray with the supplementary disc housing hours of documentaries. The FuturePak has internal artwork and is at a great price:

Re ^^

Although I've supposedly made my peace with this sub-par U.S. BD release by just getting the SE DVD for the supps, I note that both the site and your Amazon IT link say the IT release is one disc. So I'm just curious as to what you mean by "double" BD release.

I mean that the movie is on one BD and the special features (about 2 to 3 hours) are on a second BD. I wasn't expecting that myself, so it was a nice surprise.

Unfortunately it's 100% region B locked. I reset my multizone player to region A and it wouldn't play, stating "Region B Disc"

Cinematic Phasmids 30 mins
Sound design 17 mins.
HBO first look 25 mins.
In the wake of O'Brian 19 mins.
