Default Holiday 2012 Movie/TV Show Marathon

Kinda like the 31 Days of Halloween, but for Christmas/Holiday movies and TV shows.

Post what you watch here!

I kinda like watching Disney animated classics (DACs) at this time of year, and I'm giving a chance to some of the sequels this time around. So I kicked off this year with...

Recent viewings in Bold:

1. Pocahontas
2. Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World
3. Bambi
4. Bambi II

Pocahontas and Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World

Pocahontas: I really like the design of the forests and landscape in this one. Music is good. Story may have used a little impreovement in some areas but otherwise it's good.
Pocahontas II: First time watching a DTV Disney sequel. It's bad, but not entirely awful. It is a little sad to see decently designed characters having to put up with Saturday morning cartooon calibre animation.

Bambi

I like to watch Bambi at this time of year probably because I pretty much grew up in a forested area and spent a lot of time in the bush in the autumn. Always loved Bambi since I was a kid. Loved how Walt's animators designed the forest. The animation is truly a work of art on this one. Always loved the April Showers sequence with all the water droplets. What amazes me is animators these days don't take a risk and make something a little bit more artsy to appeal to all ages (like in the Walt era). Seems like all animation coming out of the Mouse House these days has to be targeted mainly to hyperactive children.

Bambi II

First time seeing this one and it's not that bad. I actually thought this one would be a whole lot worse. The animation doesn't feel as much as a Saturday morning cartoon on this one (it's more fluid and not so choppy like Pocahontas II). And Captain Picard voices the great prince of the forest - who I met this year at the local comic con! Hope to meet Sir Patrick Stewart again one day, a very nice gentleman and he had some great stories to share.

So...it's just a Disney marathon and not a Christmas marathon, and no "Lady & the Tramp" at that?

Let's start with just the mandatory TV shows:
- Blackadder's Christmas Carol
- Merry Christmas, Mr. Bean
- Twilight Zone, "Night of the Meek" (additional options, "Changing of the Guard", "Six Characters in Search of an Exit")
- Dick Van Dyke Show, "The Alan Brady Show Presents"
- Mystery Science Theater 3000, "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians"
- Married: With Children, "It's a Bundy-ful Life"

Nope. I just like to watch Disney animated movies at this time of year with my Christmas movies, and I just watched Lady and the Tramp. I just like to watch Disney flicks between American Thanksgiving with the lead into December, and then start watching more Christmas related stuff, and then after New Year's up until the 12th Day of Christmas (Jan 5), I watch Disney again.

Lady and the Tramp

Classic Walt era animation. First time watching it on Blu. Looks great. Starts with Christmas and ends with Christmas.

Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure

Meh, Saturday morning cartoon calibre animation. rips off the original and Oliver and Company.

Placeholder for my list here on page one

I have my video diary over at Letterboxd, so I'll go back and see what I've watched since Thanksgiving. Don't think there's anything holiday-oriented yet, though.

Just using the ABC 25 Days of Christmas thing as an example, they don't always air something that's full-on Christmas, and it's usually a Disney DAC.

also, couldn't you just edit your original post instead of re-posting a new list every time (and you might wanna spoiler-hide it if youre putting artwork and reviews for every movie you watch)
This is how I did it in the 31 Days of Horror thread. When the list got too long, I used spoiler tags.

Wreck-It Ralph

Saw it in the theater last night. Was great! Loved all the cameos. Definitely a day 1 purchase for me.

I think I'll give that Beauty and the Beast Christmas sequel a try next.

Seriously, dude. Just update your first post. No need for a new list every day. It's gonna seriously spam the thread.
