This is very nice as well, if you like Star Wars and you also happen to play the game like me. A bit pricey but worth it

Did you ever read the Marvel Comics series that started around the time the first film came out in the late 70's? It ran 107 issues, I would start with that series as it began as the comic book adaptation of the first film (first meaning episode IV) and then continued on from there. Some great reading material and I believe Dark Horse collected them in tradepaperback form. If memory serves me correctly after the series ended it was quiet for Star Wars in comic form until Dark Horse Comics published the first Dark Empire mini-series and then it went from there. I enjoyed Dark Empire and Dark Empire 2 but then lost interest as there was too much coming out, but this new upcoming ongoing series written by Brian Wood has me very excited to get back into Star Wars comics again.

Another great read was the daily and Sunday Star Wars newspaper strips which began in 1979 and ran until 1984. It ran every day in the newspaper and then a color Sunday comics section one. I believe Dark Horse Comics also reprinted these and I believe a slipcase hardcover set was released containing them all in order as they were printed too, but it is very hard to find, and extremely expensive.

Sadly I don't own a computer that is awesome enough to run The Old Republic otherwise I would be totally addicted to playing it. I always had a fascination with that era though ever since I played the Knights of the Old Republic games and I also enjoy reading the comics from that era.

There is not really a defined reading order in my opinion. It's more up to which era you would like to read more about. For example they have series that take place in the Old Republic Era (Knights of the Old Republic, Knight Errant, Tales of the Jedi), the Prequels timeframe (Star Wars/Republic, Dark Times, Clones Wars), The Original Trilogy Era (Empire, Rebellion, The Marvel series, Agent of the Empire) and of cousre they have issues that take place far in the future like the Star Wars Legacy series. Hope this helps.

Any one had a chance to read the new Brian Wood's Star Wars series?

My take: It's a very "talkie" issue; lots of exposition and dialogue but Wood's writing is always engaging, the art is very solid and there's some great ideas including an interesting device between Vader and the Emperor. I'm going to add it to my pull list - at least the first arc and see how I feel going forward with future arcs

I never read the original Legacy series, but this new one I may pick up. I believe it is an ongoing series and not a mini, the artwork is quite nice though.

I also purchased the first issue of the new Legacy comic, and it was okay. Not amazing by any means, but on the other hand, it is just getting started. So we'll see how it does. |

I haven't read a ton of the SW comics, mostly Legacy, Purge, The Ghost Prison, and a few others. But I really enjoyed the Legacy series, and I bet you would too. And I'm with ya on being behind on my comic readings, it feels like you can never get caught up lol |

Cool thread. Only SW comic I have is the Boba Fett Omnibus. This one... Got it during a BN closing sale at least two years ago, dare I say longer, and still haven't read it. I certainly love owning it, and think it's a very cool collection. Perhaps I'll have the time this Summer when I get out of school. Anyway, glad I found this thread. Will drop in from time to time.

Also there appears to be another Dark Horse Star Wars series in the works (click the link for more info). My guess is Dark Horse has the license for a while if they are continuing to give the green light to more series', or perhaps there has been negotiations between them and Disney about keeping the comics aspect at Dark Horse. Why mess with a good thing, right? http://www.newsarama.com/comics/gala...rs-series.html
