Quick question for those that have done a dedicated theater room. How bad is just having painted cement walls in the basement on acoustics and lighting? Echos, light reflection...

Thinking of picking up a simple APC brand battery backup for my theater. Based on my components posted below is it worth it? I do loose power randomly sometimes, live at the end of the line, and sometimes it just flickers but its enough to turn stuff off.

I don't have a dedicated ht room....but I can imagine just cement walls would give you a lot of echos.....a lot.......I'd highly recomend either building yourself some, or buying some.....or even go with the foam acoustic panels as I have in my bedroom. Anything is going to be better than nothing. Use them in first reflection points first, then you can add more wherever you deem necessary. That's just my opinion....hope that helps.

I had several APC UPS's a few years ago. The batteries all went dead fairly quickly to the point that they had to be replaced as they would no longer hold a charge. I seem to remember that there was a recall on them too, but am too vague as to why. From my own prior experience, I wouldn't revisit the brand again. But hey, that's just me.

Needing something tonight about every 30 minutes the power would flicker off for a second. Was trying to record a show on directv and even thought the power just flickered the system had to restart. About a five minute process over and over.
