Yeah, it was hard to track stuff down back in the day. By the way, does anyone know what Kawajiri has been up to lately? I haven't seen his name on anything since that Highlander animated movie. Him and Kon were always my fave anime directors.

Ninja Scroll is hardcore. I had a VHS copy and loved it. This is tempting. I'm in the market for some anime on Blu-ray.

I got it for Christmas.

It is a VERY good transfer and experience.

The fact that it is in 4:3 ratio was jarring to me for about 4 minutes and then the awesome just washed over me like a warm blanket.

Duh...I forgot to add that I also have the VHS still.




This is just one of those movies that people either haven't seen or are completely rabid over. I've never met anyone who was seriously on the fence about Ninja Scroll.

I never cared for anime until I watched Ninja Scroll on VHS. Still don't care for much anime but Ninja Scroll is just so well done.

Anime sequel

An official sequel, Jūbē Ninpūchō 2, is classed as in production with no specific release date. The film is scheduled to be written and directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri, and will most likely be released in the west as Ninja Scroll 2.

In North America, the Ninja Resurrection anime films were marketed as sequels to Ninja Scroll, but were actually created by a separate animation studio. The only similarity they both share is a lead character named Jubei. The Jubei in Ninja Resurrection was Yagyū Jūbei while Ninja Scroll featured Jubei Kibagami.

The Ninja Resurrection series was just plain awful.

Oh man, that looks awesome! I remember someone posting about Ninja Scroll 2 and showing that same picture, but I don't recall seeing the teaser trailer!
I guess I'm in the minority about Resurrection, I enjoyed it, and would gladly add the blu-ray, to my collection.
