Mine played fine on my Oppo, gotta be defective. Have you tried exchanging it?

The disc is not defective. I checked it on another Blu-ray player...no freezing issues there.

I finally watched Skyfall for the first time the other night. It's streaming on Amazon Prime now. Several scenes made me think of other classic films. Whether the Director was intentionally paying homage, or not, I do not know. But, here are the references I can remember now:

Red Corner
[Show spoiler]Using rooftops for the motorcycle chase, made me think of Richard Gere's escape to the American Embassy running on the rooftops.

Blade Runner

[Show spoiler]The Shanghai city scenes are reminiscent of a futuristic-like world that Ridley Scott created for Blade Runner.

The Tourist
[Show spoiler]When Patrice takes a shot through glass to make a kill, I thought of the police sniper kill made in The Tourist.

No Country For Old Men
[Show spoiler]The villain Javier Bardem

The Shining
[Show spoiler]As Bond and his Boss are driving to Skyfall, it's reminiscent of the opening drive in The Shining.
The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear with hearing.
