Going to order mine with the GoHastings sale.

With the others it will average out to about 12.99 for me!

Back to $14.43 plus shipping at Import CDs. As has been mentioned, they charge a flat $1.50 handling fee per order, so it makes sense to order several discs at once. They have dirt-cheap prices on all Olive releases and many Kinos.

I watched this last night for the first time and really enjoyed it.

Mind you, since I'm 54, I had a crush on Rosalind Allen .

I guess it speaks to the power of good looks that Ami Dolenz is on the cover. She's actually a pretty minor character in the movie but I guess Ami Dolenz sells more product than Alfonso Ribeiro.

I'd imagine Seth Green would have slightly (but only slightly) more star power/name recognition, but thank God they didn't slap his ugly mug on the front.

Edit: Actually, the front cover is identical to the film's original poster.

I'm hoping mine finally arrives from Import CDs today.

It did (you can all relax now), and after giving it a spin I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable it all was. Sure, the characters are all stock types, but the humor is effective, the FX gooey, and the pace consistent. I watched it after Warlock 2, another low-budget early 90's horror flick that I'd like to see get a BD release.

Minor detail regarding the review posted on this site:

Quote:
Audio Commentary with Director Tony Randel and co-star Clint Howard. This isn't exactly a fount of information, but it's extremely enjoyable as the two guys have absolutely no pretensions about what a silly film this is. It's refreshing to hear Randel state what might already be obvious, namely that there's "nothing deep" about Ticks. Howard is obviously highly amused by the renown this role has with certain elements in the fan culture. One thing to be aware of: pressing "Special Feature" on the main menu doesn't seem to do anything as once you've chosen it the menu doesn't change and the film doesn't boot, but it in fact changes the audio track to the commentary. You have to hit "Play Movie" afterwards. It's an odd authoring choice (rather than simply putting this in the audio options to begin with).
On mine, pressing the "Special Feature" button does bring up a little bubble, which allows you to choose "Audio Commentary On / Off". So this must just be an issue with the reviewer's blu-ray player. It worked fine on mine.

Saw this today. I thought it was okay, but not enjoyable enough to justify olive's normal premium price. This is a movie that only works when things are so over the top it gets absurd, but it never reached these levels for me. A bit too mundane to be a great "so bad it's good" movie, but still an interesting specimen. Just more of a $5-$10 buy for me

I watched it with commentary last night, and had no issues choosing it from the main menu. I thought it was a very average commentary, mainly due to a terrible moderator. But at a couple points early on, it seemed like the track dropped out. I couldn't tell it if was just poor edit points or something questionable that was said being silenced. Anybody else catch that?

I really enjoyed the latter half of The Nest,
[Show spoiler]once the roach/cat and roach/man hybrids began wrecking havoc,
but I thought Ticks had more effectively comedic moments and bits of gross-out horror that The Nest lacked, or didn't convey successfully. Also,
[Show spoiler]the motivation of the female scientist was a bit confusing - at times, she seemed to welcome a bug-induced apocalypse.

I now saw the nest last night and I'd say ticks is definitely better. I can see myself getting that one down the road, but I'm deleting the nest from my wishlist

I didn't listen to the commentary, but I had no trouble pulling up the Special Feature menu either. I think this site's reviewer must need a firmware upgrade or something. It's mentioned in most of the recent Olive reviews, and I think they're all written by the same person.

I was actually planning a double-feature of the unseen Mosquito and Ticks this weekend.
