Alright, so I'll pickup the doors and hardware tomorrow. The doors are like 25 bucks each and the track w/rollers for top is like 14 bucks. not bad at all. I'll get em hung up, paint em, put the .45 scale lightsabers on the one side for door handles and regular ones on the other side. Then put the Death Star decal on the Star Wars side. it's gonna look pretty awesome when I get done with it.

I agree man! I'll be out again tomorrow searching for a tube big enough to fit the vinyl piece in, but should have it out by Monday.

Okay cool. Going to get the doors and track today. Gonna start putting them up later today so that'll be fine. still will have to prime and paint them so there's no rush on the decal.

Last night i bid on and won a ROTJ vintage carded Gamorrean Guard. It was in great shape. Got it for 39.00. Thought that was a pretty good deal considering it's 30 years old.

Just got back from Home Depot. Bought the 2 doors, the track, primer, black paint and handles. I'll get this thing done in the next few days. Waiting on the light saber handles from a guy on ebay and the death star decal from starkiller. It's gonna look awesome.

Man you gotta love Home Depot. When we were getting the doors yesterday I showed my wife some of the really nice Husky toolboxes(the tall ones). They had one on sale for like 148.00. I wanted that one for me. They also had a Husky workbench with drawers and a woodblock top. My wife has an old black particle board bakers cart she keeps all her baking stuff in. The thing is wobbly and ready to fall apart. I told her the workbench looked like her bakers cart. So we got the big tall box for me and the workbench for her. She was able to organize all her stuff and loves the thing. I love using something that's made for one thing and using it for something else.

So the doors are coming along nicely. Got the track up this morning. put the rollers on the top of the doors. Measured the length. Had to cut an inch off the bottom. It was a nice day today so went out to the carport, cut the doors, primed em, and started painting them. Got one side done in flat smoke black. Looking goo so far. I've been taking pics as I go. I'll post when they are all done.

Lou,
Yeah, I got a lot done today. Still have to paint one side with the black, and install the lightsaber handles when they get here. Any luck finding a tube for that monster decal yet? LOL. That baby is gonna look great on the sliders. Thanks again for that. My wife says thanks too.
Been taking lots of pics as I go. Don't want to post any until the whole thing is finished. It's gonna be sweet. Had the wife pick out some handles for the living room/home theater side. I'll finish the paint tomorrow and get the living room handles attached.
Spoke to sideshow today and my Mythos Maul should be shipping in the next day or two. Man it's killing me waiting for that after seeing your pics.
Gotta mail out two figs tomorrow to SpectrumOfPain.
After the doors are done I have some small Ikea shelves I still have to put up and gotta run by Michaels and get 2 more small display cases. That'll be it for those.
I will finally be able to keep our kitties(all 4) out of The Outer Rim. The whole reason for this project was to kinda keep them out of there. They love to climb and knock stuff over, so this is a great remedy.

Thanks again for the figures! And can't to see the pics of the doors! I know what you mean about the cats, no matter how high I put up the shelves, they always find a way to climb on them, haha.

It"s funny, it's like they know what I'm doing with the doors. They were watching me yesterday as I was hanging them and kinda staying back a bit. They are staaying back there less now since the double doorway is now single doorway width. Gotta go get some trim pieces today.

Here are some pics of the sliding door project so far. Got a little more to do, but these show the progress so far. The lightsaber hadles came today so i got them attached to the small handles I bought at Home Depot. I didn't want to drill through them so I used some small black zipties. They are hadly noticeable and when I get them attached to the doors they will pretty much be hidden.

The old Vinyl accordian doors

Old doors removed and track put up

Painted and primed. One side done in black

Dry fit to see how they fit and slide.

Gray side. Still needs black paint. You can see the rollers.

One door open. View from Outer Rim into living room/Home theater.

Trim piece added to top inside the Outer Rim to hide the rollers.

Handle on Living Room/Home Theater side.

Entrance to The Outer Rim, Lettering mounted above door.

Lightsaber hadles(.45 scale) for the door handles.

Anakin Lightsaber handle attached to door hadle. Ready for install.

Vader Lightsaber handle attached to door handle. Ready for install.

Dude! That's awesome! Love how it's coming together! As for the handles, have you thought about using liquid nails or some kind of adhesive so you don't have to strap it?

Also, found a Postnet a couple towns over that can build a tube long enough to ship the fathead in. So, it will be shipping to you tomorrow. Also, you need to know that it is very sticky, and you do not want any part of the fathead sticking to another part of it or it will never come apart. Just an FYI. Anyway, I'll PM you tracking info as soon as I get it sent. Can't wait to see it finished. Love it so far!

Lou that sounds great. I really appreciate all your doing to get that baby shipped to me.
As for the handles, I didn't want to do anything that might mess them up. The zipties worked great just got em installed. Check it out. It's just two simple handles(flat edge) lightsabers laid right on em and ziptied. No damage to anything.

This thing is going tp look phenomenal when I get that Death Star decal on it.
So as for the decal, I'm assuming you have to peel it from the backing slowly as you're putting it up right?

Hey weird thing in this pic when I took it. There's a big circle on it like the doors know there will be a Death Star decal on it soon. LOL

LOL! I see it! Looks awesome! Yeah, the vinyl is just peel and stick, but like I said, be sure not to get any of the backing on the vinyl stuck together or its a real mess. Here is a "how to" video from their site:

Wow Mike!!! Awesome Job!!! I'm actually going to start a project in my Wampa Cave this weekend hopefully. Going to Home Depot this Friday to pick up some materials and a circular saw. Never used one before but I figured now is a good time as any to try and start, haha. I've never been known to be handy with tools but that changes quickly once you own a house. As I have learned this past couple of years, haha.
