Sorry for double post from other thread.

Just got a Samsung 46" Series 5000 (46UE5000) LED TV for my parent's Living Room. There is a lot of natural light in the room. They have no DVD or Blu-Ray player. The TV will be used for News, Hockey/Baseball and basic TV watching. I have searched to find the proper setting for the TV as it looks blurred to me. It is hooked up Component for now and showing 720 instead of the 1080 it should. Can anyone help me set this up for them?
Thanks in advance.

Component is hooked up to a set-top box? It may only output at 720p. It's possible the sharpness setting is turned too low as well as having DNR on might cause a softer image. I'd reset the image if you're not happy and go from there. Our Samsung is in a very bright room and we have the cell light at 8-12 depending on the device and contrast at 85 and brightness 45. Having the contrast too low can make the image look quite soft. Just check your settings to see that any post-processing functions aren't on (they're usually on the advanced picture sub menu and picture settings sub menu).

You may need to check your set-top outputs to see if it goes higher than 720.

Thanks.
I will try that tomorrow. I did get the 1080 working. It was a setting on the box that needed to be adjusted.

Hi all,

I just bought a samsung UE50F6400 and I'm looking to find the optimal settings or something close that people may have come up with. I've had a look at Nicks settings for the UN46F6400, would these also work for my model? TV set ups are still pretty new to me so I'm not sure whether the panels would be the same or not.

Thanks for the help!

Sorry they will not be of any use to you as every panel is different. Maybe consider a Professional Calibration or maybe go down the DIY route.

Not entirely true, it could be a good start. At least the basic settings anyways. The advanced CMS settings will probably throw the color off, but I would suspect brightness/contrast/color/tint/etc. would be fairly close to the same. I do agree however a DIY or professional calibration would be best.

They again can vary but can easily be corrected with most calibration discs.
