Unforgiven is my favourite movie. Even though I was 99% certain it would be the same disc, I decided to pick it up today, just for the digibook.
I did a quick comparison and yes, it is undoubtedly the exact same disc. It's a fine disc, but it definitely could and should have been improved for such a release. That's disappointing, certainly. On the plus side, the digibook is really nice. I own half a dozen of these things and this is the nicest looking one, I would say, and at 54 pages, the longest. So for that, for $20, Unforgiven being my favourite movie, it was worth it for me. Sort of. Also, the pages didn't all fall out when I opened it up like on my copy of Se7en so that's a plus too. |

Yeah, I saw this digibook for $26.96 at Wal-Mart and said no. So I bought it on eBay for $20 shipped and sold my original version for $8. $12 was a good deal IMHO.

Mmmm, just watched this one again. Such a great movie, such a great image transfer, such a great audio ... no, I really can't say that last bit, can I?
Truth is, for a DD5.1 audio track, this one is excellent, and perhaps that's why it didn't get an upgrade. But every time I watch this, and listen to the ambient sounds (the wind on the plains, the rain on the muddy streets and the roll of the thunderstorm above the hills, the creaking of the wooden buildings in the night-time) and think how immersive they could have sounded ... well, it makes me lament that WB rarely seems to value just how much sound quality can contribute to a film. Sigh. |

watching my 1997 release of this film ( from the Eastwood collection series).. and it is so dark inside at night I can hardly see the faces .. is the BD a lot more brighter ??
I also don't like the first release of this title from 15 years ago .. it has a terrible menu screen ... |
