I finally received this, via a helpful seller on eBay. I'm glad I chose to import the lenticular slipcover; it really is gorgeous. Fortunately none of my discs appear to have any scratches as a result of the stacker case. I've already ordered a few more Viva 3-disc cases (which do fit the slipcover, albeit just a little more snugly than the regular case; which I confirmed by slipping the Firefly series set in there) so that I can transfer the 3-D Blu, Blu, and DVD into it and then keep the digital copy on a spindle with the rest of my digital copies discs.
This is the first Burton movie I've enjoyed in quite some time, and for a conversion I thought the 3-D was quite impressive. So while I'm glad to finally own this, I have to admit a certain level of annoyance on my part with Disney for the poor choices made with this release... stacker case, and lenticular slip only available at Best Buy locations in the US (who didn't even bother distributing it to Canadian stores). It kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I hope that this was a one-time thing due to the relatively poorer-than-expected performance of this movie at the box office, rather than the beginning of a new trend in 3-D releases from Disney. Disney always did such an outstanding job on the packaging for 3-D Blu combo packs in the past, so that even though they were usually a few dollars more than 3-D releases from other studios, the quality of the product kind of compensated for that. But Frankenweenie was just a huge pain in the ass for a whole lot of people. I hope Disney has learned from this. Instead of making 2 sales... the seller whom I purchased from, and another from me... Disney instead only made 1 sale for my purchase, with the eBay seller making a bit of money instead. And I can't believe I'm the only one who chose to ignore the garbage release Disney tried to sell in Canada. Last edited by TM2-Megatron; 02-09-2013 at 07:59 AM. |

Pick it up. This movie is fantastic and definitely Burton's best in a long while. It might've not done well at the box office, but it will definitely turn into a cult classic (ala Nightmare Before Christmas) with annual Halloween viewings.
Only complaint, the lack of special features. |

at the target by my house, they had the 17.99 dvd sale tag, over the 3d price, and all the 3d copies there, i brought the 3d movie to the register and since the tag was over the 3d price, and all the copies were there, he told me he would honor the misprice, on that one copy
so long story short, i got the 3d frankenweenie for 17.99 before tax, a new copy =) |

Costco has this for $24 + tax right now ($32 - $8 instant coupon). Not a great deal, but better than I've seen anywhere to this point.
"Who is Guy..Meatdrapes? What kinda' name is that?" "Um..it's um..Medrapades sir, it's uh, it's Greek." "Well I think you're pronouncing it wrong. This says Meatdrapes." "It's actually pronounced, um, Medrapades." "Well why doesn't it sound like that when I say it? Meatdrapes."
