If your happy with your tv then stick with it and upgrade your surround sound system like others have said. Your choice your money but why upgrade if you like what you already have? And if you ask me tv's now days dont offer much to go out and spend your money on unless you want to go the 3D route.

I have a baby on the way and I found a new job earlier this year that is paying me more than the last. I started college in March and won a two year scholarship. At the same time I guess the money could go to savings because I do only have like $8000.00 well its really 12,000 but we had to put $4000 way for the wife's surgery and hospital stay when the baby comes (that's a lot and we have insurance kind of wish we lived in Canada). However, this was a month that 3 checks fell into so I have the extra money.

I know you were not attacking me and really think it was a good suggestion but life is good right now *Knock on wood*

If you have a baby on the way then save that money for the baby. Seems like an easy decision for me. You already have a nice TV. Now make sure that baby gets the best.

It’s actually very simple. A bigger television gives you a greater experience and with every new television you will definitely enjoy a whole lot of new features. I would like to give you a small piece of suggestion. A huge television screen will be great only if you have a big living room. Do not go for one if your living room is just enough to hold the TV. Also make sure that the room is big enough to have enough TV viewing distance.

I remember the first HDTV I bought was fun but this time I feel like I'm blowing 2700.00 for not much more. I have no interest in 3D and smart features don't really impress me. Can you guys convince me on why I should buy a new TV?

Yea but it all depends on how big the room is. Again I would save the money for the baby. But thats just me.

No matter how big the room is I stick to my statement. Can't argue with the baby point though! I have a 17 month old son and my upgrades have slowed significantly.

Yep. Once kids start to enter the picture, you'll need every penny you can scrape together. Take half of the money and start a college fund. Put the other half away for emergencies. You'll need it in the coming years, and the last thing you want to do is start racking-up revolving credit balances.
