Worried? Hardly. I can give a rat's grass what the haters say . And actually I was referring to all the whining I've seen about it not being the extended editions. I'm very satisfied with the PQ as well, regardless of the DNR and EE - there's far worse out there, Gladiator for one. Fellowship could be better, sure, but it's nowhere near among the worst, DTS HDMA on top of that made it worth every penny.

I'm still in the process of setting up the monoblocks but so far the sound quality is close to the XPA-5 except that the UPA-1s seems to be a tad laid back compared to the former. Also, for me the UPA-1s sound a little more "natural" and maybe even a bit more detailed than the XPA-5. But what stands out is the difference in soundstage. With UPA-1s the soundstage is greatly expanded, if that makes any sense. Okay more listening on a lazy Saturday afternoon.
Looks great! Thanks for the update as well, your input is much appreciated!

For interconnects, going from the pre-amp to the amp, which cables will I need?

These or These???

There are a lot of different types and they're different, which ones should I get?

Either the x series or ultra RCAs will be fine, the main difference is construction. I would go x series myself between the two.

Your other option would be to go XLR (balanced) since you're planning on a UMC-1. This would be helpful for longer runs and/or if you have any interference such as EMI.

Awesome dude, I love the LOTR and new Predator blus. Screw the haters. They claim people who like the DNR and EE editions are sheeple with excessive ignorance. My first degree is in film studies (and I've worked in the film industry), and I say it's fantastic.

What do you mean XLR (balanced)? It won't be a long run for any of the speakers or from the processor to the amp. The farthest will be the surrounds.

How about the X-Series RCA Cable (male to male)? Would those be the cables I get? And I'd just get 5 of them and be set?

The UMC-1 does not have balanced outputs. Unless of course you count the subwoofer output.

Very cool. I can always appreciate the input of the educated and experienced. So what do you think of the remastered Terminator 2 then, if you've seen it? Lots of haters on that too.

Yes, go with the x-series RCA for the interconnects, same ones Factor picked up. You'll just need to determine the length, and just get the length you need.

Doh! You caught me sleeping on that one. I'm well aware of that as I have a UMC . I'm in the middle of swapping my UMC back out again in my main room with my Onkyo 886 and have the XLRs sitting out... got my facts mixed up.
