It was hit or miss with alot of people, you either loved it as I did, or it was a disappointment.

I personally didn't enjoy it that much.
I really thought it just a rehash of the TCM remake. Change mask + move to woods + reworked TCM score = F13 remake for me. Derek Mears did a decent job as Jason though. I'm a bit biased because I work for Kane Hodder, but I thought Derek did a far better job than Kirzinger did in FvJ. I'll still buy just because I'm a completist, but it was not that great IMO. I hope the Nightmare remake doesn't follow the same formula from Platinum Dunes. |

If you want to compare the new one to the original... I'd say the remake is somewhat different. The killings are classic as usual, but the story got me... UHHHH...
I'm still getting it though |

Day 1 purchase for me because I love the franchise and the genre, but I had a hard time with the new aspects of the film. I saw it twice and it still kinda bothered me. Be interesting to see what the storyline that they added to the killer cut will be.

Enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Went in expecting TCM with a hockey mask but got a lot more. Basically a condensed and more coherent summation of F13 parts 1-3. From a visual standpoint I'd go so far as saying its a beautiful movie, can't wait to watch it in high def surround sound.
Definitely worth it.

I am a horror fan, and I enjoyed it for what it was. It won't win any Oscars, but I was definitely entertained. I already have it on preorder along with F13 Parts 2 and 3.

I have the remake and Part 2 reserved at moviestop with additional $5 off on both movies. I'm still going to wait if Wal-mart sells it cheaper at my local stores.
Right now Part 2 and 3 it's $19.99 at Amazon, and Walmart.com. The Remake is $24.99 at Best Buy. |

Loved it. Honestly, of all the re-makes in general that have been coming out in the past few years, I enjoyed this one the most. It hardly disappointed me.
And as far as horror re-makes go, it's waaaaay better than The Amityville Horror, The Hills Have Eyes, The Omen, Psycho & The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ones were. They didn't muck around with useless b.s. They kept it simple & Jason is brutal in this. [Show spoiler] |

I really enjoyed the Friday the 13th remake. As someone who openly loves most of the older Fridays for what they are, I'd say this one is easily the best since Part VI, which is revered by most fans as the most 'fun' Jason movie.
The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the 'forced' nature of some of the teenage hijinks. I'm not looking for high caliber performances in a Friday the 13th flick, but most of the teen stuff just didn't gel for me. Luckily the main character a cool loner type, Derek Meers' Jason was brutal, the movie was well-shot and occasionally even spooky, and there were a few really cool set pieces. I'll be buying the Blu Ray if the PQ is up to par. |
