Jin-Roh isn't hard to find if you want the Japanese release. However, the Japanese release comes with a region 2 DVD while the U.S. release is packaged with a thick storyboard book. If you only care about the movie, though, importing is an option (though it's still expensive).

The movies are just shortened versions of the TV series aren't they? That being the case I don't see much reason in buying them. I really hope they release GitS SAC on Blu in the US. I really love serious sci-fi amime and there just isn't enough of it released here- most of it is of the comedy variety.

Yeah, they said they would but not when. As of now, the only BD I have of the series is Solid State Society. Don't want the other two "movies" because they're shortened and the voices are different in english.

I would love the US version of Jin-Roh, but after nearly 3 years of looking on and off without finding one new or used for sale I was satisfied with getting the Japanese release (exactly the same as the US release other than DVD copy replacing the 500+page storyboard book like you mentioned). If you do find a US Jin-roh release it will mostly likely be in the $200-$300 range, so the Japanese release would be 2-3 times less expensive.

I was going to preorder, but my job has it listed as coming out and $19.99. Plus, I could do a trade deal and get $5 off, so I'd be paying $15 on release with most of that being credit. Cha-ching!

Nope. I don't even think Japan has it on Blu-ray. But that makes me think that since it's an Aniplex series that it is possible that Aniplex USA will do the bringing over the Japanese release like they have been doing like with Baccano, Read or Die, etc. whenever that does happen or if Funimation will handle the Blu-ray release themselves.

IMO, I don't think it's HD native.
