The third volume of K-ON! is only $13.49 from Amazon right now. I'm not going anywhere near Bandai's release of K-ON! until season 1 gets a release with lossless audio. I don't want to buy a BD with Dolby Digital audio.

And considering it's a music-centric series, that just burns even more. I know why Bandai's release was stuck with lossy audio (most likely a stipulation of their contract with TBS). Still disappointing either way, though.

A little less than that. All total it comes in around 300+mins. As I stated earlier Broken Blade is probably one of the best animated releases on Blu-Ray right now. 5/5 in PQ and audio.

How's the rewatch value of this story-wise, in your opinion? I've been hesitant to buy it since I haven't seen any of it yet, but it looked interesting...

Does anyone think that the limited Fate/Zero bluray set from Japan is gonna be especially hard to get? Like, I'm pretty sure that once it's gone, it's gone for good. But is there a lot of pre-order demand that would make it hard to find after its release date when a couple of reviews have come out?

Depends on how much you like the genre. If you're uncertain you might as well wait for a sale. It's a great release though.

Thanks for the reply. I enjoy mecha and fantasy, and I just saw that the art director was involved with Cowboy Bebop and Spice and Wolf (according to ANNs review, though I can't find his name in S&W credits on ANN), so I think I'll go for it.

Its really hard to say, I think it will go OOP soon after release but it really depends on just how many copies they actually make. Here is what Aniplex has imported to the US so far considering blu-rays:

The Garden of Sinners (OOP on day 1)
Read or Die (in stock)
Baccano (OOP)
Rurouni Kenshin Movies (in stock)
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (just released Volume 1)

Only Garden of Sinners and, perhaps, the Rurouni Kenshin Movie/OVAs are imports. They are the Japanese releases imported to the US and sold at Japanese prices with translated booklets like the upcoming Fate/Zero vol.1 BD set. The other titles that you mention are US releases with different packaging and discs (except for Baccano!, which uses the Japanese Blu-ray masters) at better pricing.

I agree with your assessment but with the caveat that Baccano took a while to go OOP and The Garden of Sinners is still readily available at roughly the same price it was when it was released on the secondary market.

Not to say my opinion is the right one but I wouldnt be concerned waiting for the first reviews to hit before ordering.

Not really how many they make but how many they allocate from the Japanese release. Like they only allocated 840 Garden of Sinners blu-rays from Japan and those sold out no problem. I'd wager it'll be around 800 to 1,000 sets for Fate/Zero allocated to US, maybe even just a tad less than that. Depends how many English translation booklets they printed up. Although given its Type-Moon and how insanely large that fan base is in America, I wouldn't hold off too long in waiting to order.

It'll be limited here, but not limited over there so even if sells out here, you can get it through Amazon Japan, just deal with the horrible exchange rate and miss out on the English booklet. It's still just a bit cheaper to go that route anyways but it would be hassle if it came to problems with the set or shipping.

Sometime between Summer and the end of the year, with Funimation at the helm, there simply isn't no telling when exactly. I personally probably won't double dip on the title unless its leaps and bounds better than the DVDs (which may be unlikely). I find the Geneon DVDs to be amazing and extraordinary, same can be said for the Hellsing Ultimate DVDs.

I agree. Funimation's releases are not very good quality wise compared to
the other distributors. Very disappointing but true. Thanks for the info.

Took my friends kids to see Arrietty. The youngest was shifting in her seat near the end, but they both liked it. As for myself, while not quite up to snuff with their classics, I certainly liked it a lot more than the last 2 Ghibli films: the overly saccharine Ponyo and the utterly confused Tales From Earthsea. Because of Disney's coupons, I'll certainly be buying the blu-ray in its first week of release.
