i definitely agree with you....if it were amazon, this would have been handled much better. customer service has never, ever been a huge strong point for B&N.

I called customer service at exactly 8:00am (Eastern Time). The first customer service rep I spoke to didn't seem to know anything and gave me a scripted response...something about it being cancelled because it was backordered for such a long period of time. I asked for a supervisor. She explained that it was a mistake on B&N's part and that "Prices Are Subject To Change". She told me the "Buy 2, Get The Third Free" deal is still going on if I wish to purchase them at the regular price. I told her that was unacceptable. I was then transferred to ANOTHER supervisor. She told me the same thing and ended the conversation, saying that they were not going to honor the price. I was not satisfied with this so she provided me with the email address for the Vice-President. I wrote a LONG letter. I felt it was very professional. I am waiting for a response. I will keep you posted.

Slickdeals is on fire.

I shall now resume my prior attitude of how little use I have for Barnes & Not So Noble.

Thats against the law. They are not to charge you if it doesnt simultaneously ship.
Because Calamari Marionette Ph.D sounded pompous, that's why.

well first of all..some companies do charge before they ship (although i dont think B&N is one of them...have to check on their policies)...secondly, anyone who thinks they have been charged should call their bank to verify it isn't just a holding charge to make sure the funds are available. i cant remember if B&N does that immediately after you place an order...if so, it will probably drop off within a few days...if that isn't what it is, then everyone seems to be doing the right thing by calling B&N and letting them know about the charge.

It's still showing up as a pending transaction on my PayPal account. When I asked them about it, they confirmed that it was a "holding charge" for authorization purposes...

The thing that stinks the most about this whole thing is B&N charged my Mastercard for the purchase when they didn't even get to a shipping point and now I have to wait and go through the hassle of checking to make sure that I'm reimburrsed for the amount charged.

Might as well move it to retail/shopping so people can keep up on how the credit card/paypal refunds were handled.

As with anything else involving Barnes & Noble, there isn't much reason for this to be in "Hot Deals".

Barnes and Noble is sending apologies out now, I am moving thread to Retail Discussion per suggestion. Please keep it civil and dont create accounts to further this

Dear jwbbud,

We are writing to you regarding your recent Barnes and Noble order for the Blu-ray version of ?Band of Brothers?.

We are unable to fulfill this item as requested and have canceled your order. You will not be billed for this amount.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. Infrequently this kind of price discrepancy will occur. We have the following information on our web site in the rare event this problem
occurs:

V. PRICES
The price for an item on the Barnes & Noble.com Site may differ from the price shown in a User's shopping cart ? it is possible that such price may increase or decrease between the time the item is placed in a shopping cart and the time that the purchase is actually made. On rare occasions, an item may be priced incorrectly on the Barnes & Noble.com Site. If the price for the item on the Barnes & Noble.com Site is incorrect and is actually higher than the price provided at the time of purchase, then, at the sole discretion of Barnes & Noble.com, Barnes & Noble.com may either (i) contact the User for instructions before shipping the item or charging the User for such item; (ii) cancel the order for such item and notify the User of such cancellation; or (iii) ship the item at the incorrect price to the benefit of the User.

Respectfully,

Beverly Walker

You should be. This is turning into a big hassle for me. I ordered this thing the moment I saw it but for some reason my card was declined, so I came back later updated my info, and the order went through. This was after they had found the problem, and were canceling orders. Well, here we are 3 days later, and my order does'nt say canceled anywhere, but it does say my card will be charged $0.00. It also says my order has shipped, and 2 days ago they sent me a tracking number that still isn't working. To top it all off the $29.51 verifacation hold they put on my card has now gone through as a charge. So at this point I'm wondering if they have actually sent me anything (I doubt they have) and how long I'm going to have to fight with them to get my money, that they gladly took from me, back. Fun stuff.

Way to pour the salt on the wounds of the unhealed...

If you received three boxes I'm guessing they were 9 copies of BOB?...

FYI...if for some unforeseen reason yours comes in with any dings or dents you can exchange it at your local B&N for a dent free one with no problems

You should reply to that email from Barnes and Noble and remind them that they didn't cancel all of the orders, but canceled only select ones. Perhaps they can answer that one, as to why some people had their orders canceled, and some didn't. If it was an error on their part with regards to the pricing, which it clearly was, the simple answer would have been to cancel ALL orders for the product, not ship some, and cancel others. See what they say and post back here. I personally didn't jump on that deal, I already have the Blu-ray set myself, and will admit I haven't even had the time to sit down and watch it, not having even seen Band of Brothers myself, but I know I will love it.

By the way, HBO debuted the trailer for the 10-part follow up entitled "The Pacific" which will air sometime in 2010. I don't have HBO but I imagine it will hit Blu-ray much quicker than BoB did.

I think it's quite clear how some orders shipped and the rest were canceled... They let the orders go through that could be filled with stock on hand and canceled the rest that would have been filled at a later time...
