Its too late, but...........they should have remade the Xmen. Avengers will hands down be a lot better. How they based the Xmen just on Wolverine is stupid (I understand because he is easier to market). Or they should have went with another storyline. Onslaught or Age of Apoclypse (epic). There are more but for movie wise these stories are incredible. (Sry didn't want to change the direction of the thread).

My advice is wait until you're at least 100 years old before watching the movie unless you have a death wish before then.

I think X2 out of the bunch for me.

I think you've hit the nail right on the head there with X1 being somewhat of a pioneer for modern superhero movies because without it being made in 1999, all that came after would not have been as good if they were made at all.

It also seems that Marvel Studios has also changed the landscape. Since they started releasing movies last year, the superhero films and that came out before then seem to have lost some luster. I was not aware of the significance of Fox and Sony having creative control meant before last year, because I was pleased just to get X-Men movies. I really like the first two X-Men movies then and I still like them now, but not as much because you can tell the same care wasn't taken with them as it was for Iron Man. Now I want Marvel Studios standards for all superhero movies because the only Marvel movie to come out since then (Wolverine) showed what happens when you let other people present your characters. They aren't as detailed and Fox was happy to completely change the background of the character they had already portrayed in one of their movies. Nevermind the story deviations from the book, they couldn't even keep consistency within their own universe. Fanboys like me will always find something to gripe about but my point is that Marvel seems to care about their characters and their stories and their continuity a little more than others do who are more naked about the pure licensing money grab they are doing.

Anyone else see the secret ending after the credits of X-Men 3? I thought it was fascinating and never noticed it until I fast forwarded the credits. Makes me so excited.

Sometimes we hear of people who are “very” honest, “mostly” honest, or even “a little” honest.
Should we even use modifiers with the word honest? I don’t believe so. There are no degrees of honesty. Either we are honest or we aren't.

No, it hints at a bad script, director and no one knowing what they are doing.

Use to like these films and when the Blu box set came out, I wanted to re watch to see if it was worth the money. Only got through the first half of 1. Cannot say that I would ever re watch now.

I actually watched X1 and X2 over the last 2 weeks after I saw Wolverine. When X2 came out I remember thinking it was the best comic book movie ever made (and at the time maybe it was), but the recent Batman movies have dwarved it. Still a great movie and easily the best of the 4.

I bought the box set during the Amazon blu week and haven't opened yet. Funny how that works out.

X2. The rest suck ass. I mean serious ass.

The first one concentrates on Rogue far too much. Her storyline while interesting isn't all that great until she gets her powers from Ms Marvel after that she becomes far more interesting.

Third movie is a complete disaster, should never have touched the Phoenix Saga unless they were ready to devote at least two movies to it. Offing of characters was stupid, and Rogue doesn't go for the ****ing cure. Argh!!!!! Brett Ratner is a seriously bad director and the script was terrible. Fox should wait for 5-7 years and re-boot with a whole new cast and production team, or better yet Marvel should buy the rights back. Also they should never have let Singer go. Should have given him a money no object contract. From being a huge franchise in the same league as Spiderman and Batman, X-Men fell down the ladder with this movie, and obviously with Origins.

Origins, what a turd.

Origins, what a turd.

Couldn't have said it better about origins. It gets the same apologies for inadequacy that Transformers 2 gets from segments of the mentally challeneged population and those with no taste: It's a mindless action movie so it's good that it has no plot.

WRONG! Jason Statham movies can make that claim. Vin Diesel movies can make that claim. Transformers 2 was Michael Bay ramming more offal down our throats.

X-Men Origins was Fox taunting Marvel studios saying, "Hee Hee we have one of the licenses you never should have sold. Hee Hee, here's another stinker. We'll make money with your lisence and count on the slowest among the population to make the 'Summer Mindless escapism' line to justify our mediocrity. Get ready for more of it!"

I don't think they necessarily need a new cast--I think they should just pull a Superman/Terminator and ignore that the 3rd movie took place--remove it from the canon...

The only decently cast members were Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. The rest of them were really bad, wooden at best. Sadly Kitty Pride was good, but I would probably axe except Magneto and Prof. X, make 1-3 a 'dream about a mutant revolt/holocaust' and start again from the beginning, with all of the characters done properly (and that includes Gambit this time, not the poor excuse we got in Origins!).
