Default Panny 50' Plasma Tv screen

I been using the Monster Klean recommended to clean my tv screen. Yesterday I used it and it now has a rainbow effect on the screen. When I turn my tv off I can see where I cleaned the screen. I apply the solution evenly to the screen and use the cloth that comes with it. Any ideas how to remove this annoying issue? I only had the tv since Oct 2008.

I don't use any chemicals or cleaners on my tv's. Just a little water and a lint free cloth.

Not sure which Panny you have, but the 800u/850u/V10 series (one sheet of glass) states in the manual to use a small amount of light detergent in large amount (large mixing bowl I'd guess) of warm water...ONLY.

Also, I use water only for all of my lcd monitors (home x1, work x2 & wife's laptop), and that works best.

Maybe the rainbow you're seeing is chemical residue. I'd try going over it with the detergent/water mix Panny approved...and avoid aftermarket chemicals altogether.

Well point is I bought Monster Klean with my DLP and it worked great on it. When I bought my Panny I asked Managers at Best Buy and they recommended it as well. I used it on the Panny and it worked great. Just this one time and Im pissed. I do however have the extended warranty with Best Buy. Bought tv in 10/08

I used a liquid based cleaner on my old sammy lcd and it ruined the screen. I had to place a claim for a new TV. The screen was more of a matte type finish and it seemed to almost soak in and created the rainbow effect.

How did you place a claim? Manufacture or where you bought it from?

At this point to where my Plasma tv is I do not want to touch. Been on hold for 30 mins and still trying to figure out. Gees I wonder if Panasonic doesnt resolve this issue will Best Buy honor the extended warranty? Trying to figure out what is not covered....

Just curious as to why people are needing to clean these screens on these DLP's, plasmas etc.? Smoking, toddlers?

I have owned large screen TV's for years and have never had to clean one.

I have never used chemicals on any of my sets. I buy 100% cotton under shirts that are really soft and use those. I really only dust it and never apply a lot of pressure. If there is ever a spot I damp the shirt and spot treat it.

I hope the best on your claim. It's going to be really hard to have Panny back that up since in the manual it tells you NOT to use cleaners. But you will have a better shot with BB. I hope the best.

I placed the claim with the manufacturer of the LCD cleaner. I provided pictures and they provided me with a check. Most companies will pay to avoid any bad publicity.

Well you are right. However I am a neat freak and I always clean my toys. My tv is in a non smoke environment where it is. Yeah everybody is right about not using what I used. However, I am more upset because Best Buy recommended it for the tvs. I used it on my old DLP tv and no issues. I been using it on my plasma tv since I had it and it worked great. Just the last time I used it I noticed what I have now. I just got off the phone with Panny and they will not cover with my situation in hand. The guy said you mild soap with water. I asked what kind of soap and he just said mild. I gave him exactly what I got on hand and he didnt confirm exactly if it was ok. Just said "use mild soap". How great of an answer is this? Now on to Best Buy

Is the cleaner called LCD cleaner? If so BB would recommend it to clean a DLP and a LCD. Since they use a plastic screen instead of a glass panel. Did BB recommend that cleaner for a plasma?

I am sorry you have to go through this. Your blood pressure is about to go way up dealing with BB.

Well in fairness to Panasonic, the manual states "mild soap", and "Monster Clean" is NOT "mild soap"...so no, you really have no leg to stand on with them, and it's not their fault.

Mild soap is more like one tiny drop of regular (NOT Ultra) dish detergent or J&J baby shampoo in a large bowl of water.

good luck with BB.
