I love Wes Craven's original, so I'm looking forward to this... even though I hate almost all the new horror re-makes made after 1990.

I'm not even a true horror fan, but I love when a horror movie is done right (and imo, not many out there that are). I haven't seen Wes Craven's film, so I don't know how true the new one is to the original, but I liked it a lot. It wasn't perfect, towards the end there's a lot of hollywood stuff that they threw in there and kinda ruined it for me, but, the movie was well done. Looking forward to the blu so I can see it again and decide if I want to buy it

I know that a lot of people who didn't read Brett Easton Ellis' book liked the American Psycho movie. I have read the book, and I think the movie is pure garbage... |

The film was quite good. The original is my favorite of the 70s exploitation/terror genre. But, I have to hand it to the remake. It handles the first two acts of the film perfectly, BUTTTTTT the last act somewhat ruins the experience. The original was 15 minutes of nonstop, chilling carnage, leading up to the violent and vengeful climax. In the remake, that 15 minutes is stretched out to about 45 and amounts to a slow moving, sometimes suspenseful, sometimes not, cat and mouse game. Plus, the manner of dispatching the villains in the remake is not nearly as good as the original.
So, with all that said, the remake is good. I spent the night thinking about it after I saw it. Yet, after watching the original the first time, I hated it, but it stayed with me for weeks. THAT is what a good film should do. Original forever! |

One of the best remakes ever IMO, up there with, if not better than The Hills Have Eyes remake. They made a genuinely tense movie without trying to make an MTV music video.
Rob Zombie's Halloween 2: Proof that any steaming pile can have fans, no matter how horrible it is.
I blind-buy ALOT. Don't bother trying to call me out on something in my collection when I dislike a movie kthx! :) |

The remake wasn't as intense as the original. In the original the rape scenes were pretty graphic and the revenge by the parents were more gruesome and clever (biting off certain male anatomy for example). This remake was still good in it's own right though.
....and so says the Meeklo
