Hey guys, good thread you've got going here. Some good info.
Question regarding the HK release v.s. the JP Absolute Edition. The HK release has DTS-HD 7.1 audio? The Absolute Edition has DTS-HD 6.1 audio. The HK release is on a BD25 disc? The Absolute Edition is on a BD50 disc. My questions stem from these 2 differences... Can anyone confirm that the HK release does indeed have DTS-HD 7.1? If you could also specify what resolution the bit-depth is that would be great (16, 20 or 24-bit). Has anyone compared these 2 versions? I would suspect, based on the info I've gathered, that the Absolute Edition should be quite superior to the HK edition in terms of the video (due to having an extra 25GB of space for the bitrate). Now we come to the audio... if the HK release does indeed have DTS-HD 7.1 then it may very-well be superior to the Absolute Edition in terms of audio which uses DTS-HD 6.1 @ 16-bits/48kHz. If anyone has both/has compared these 2 I'd love to hear your thoughts. Also if anyone happens to have both copies, I'd GREATLY appreciate it if you could find out the audio and video bit-rates on both discs. Lastly, if you could check to see what resolution the DTS-HD is on the HK release, would also be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to figure out which one to buy, if the HK version isn't too shabby then that's the way to go considering it's 60% cheaper. Thanks! |

Does anyone have any insight into AuralXTC questions above?
From the research that I have done concerning the US, HK, and JP GitS 2: Innocence BD release, it would appear that while the US has lossy audio it has slightly more accurate subtitles than the HK including translations of the music. Does anyone know how the JP release's English subtitles compare to the US? Are the songs translated on the JP release? Thanks! |

Has anyone been able to compare the Hong Kong disc's English subtitles with those featured on the US/Japan/UK versions?
I've read a few comments confirming occasional typos, which I can live with - but do the subs generally conform to the translation found on the UK/Aus discs or the apparently clearer translation of the US/Japanese versions? Perhaps this is a unique translation? Word is that the UK/Aus Manga subs are a huge mess - are they really that bad? The Japanese edition is a little on the expensive side. The US version is OOP and selling for ridiculous money. So I'm hoping that the HK edition will be given a green light. |
