So I should have taken my time and savoured this show a bit more... Finished it last night, thinking there were 12 shows as I started the 10th...

Ya that must have been a painful year for you guys. I am not much of a reader but after watching the first season I kinda want to get into the books.

Save that pity for the long time book fans. The waits they've had to endure for the last couple books make the year between tv seasons look like a picnic (6 years for Book 5).

Yeah I sure do hope George gets book 6 and 7 done before he goes. Or at least gives HBO the ending so the series can finish right.

The showrunners have been told the ending of the story, so we're covered there at least. I hope, though, that George steps up the pace. I'm not comforted with the thought of turning to the last page of his story in about 10 or more years from now.

Well in less than 10 years the show will be over. That would suck for original readers if the show starts having the content before books are released.

I havent seen the show yet and I am pretty conservative on blind buys. I know, I know, Its HBO and all indications are that it should be pure awesome.

It reminded me of Rome and Deadwood in that the historical setting (in this case an alternate universe middle ages) was handled just like a major character. U easily buy into this universe and it's rules, leaving u free explore the rich characters and the ever twisting plot. If u liked the first season of Rome ull love this.

I LOVED Rome. I LOVED Deadwood. I LOVED Carnivale.

I'm sure its awesome. HBO has never let me down. I watched that trailer and I just have to shake my head at how much money they have spent producing it. The scale of it all looks so epic. The locations, the costumes, the horses, the weapons. I do have some concern that it may get "abbreviated" (hope not) like Rome and Deadwood due to costs.

I have never understood your avatar and screen name for a long time. Until recently. I never gave BSG a chance for all those years and finally started watching it a few weeks ago on Blu-ray. I'm half way through season 4 now.

can't wait for it to return in April and already pre-ordered it the $35 is much more reasonable than the $45 it was previously listed especially since its 10 eps but i'm completely addicted. My husband and I went out an actually bought all the books but we haven't had time to get around reading them yet.

Also i don't know if anyone else has the GET GLUE app but after i checked into games of thrones on it when it reaired on HBO last week - I got an email from someone at HBO who said they worked at HBO and i've been swagged with a House Stark Keychain for checking into game of thrones episode 5 and to just send my info to them.

My friend and I took great pleasure in watching this show with his girlfriend. We've both read the books and try to hide our amusement as she latches onto the characters that are bound to die horrible, horrible deaths. Granted, that isn't hard to do with this series, but it remains amusing nonetheless.

And Kernel, I'll be happy if I EVER get to read Martin's version of the end of the series. I'm very doubtful he's going to live to finish it. Each book seems to take longer than the last (it took, what, seven years between Storm of Swords and Feast for Crows? Then another five or six for Dragons?) I love Martin's work, but I just have a bad feeling that he's never going to see the end of his own series.
