This was posted on espn.com, I think I may agree with it. The article is in two parts, I'll post both here. Let me know what you think, Bill Simmons is a great writer; very entertaining. Notice he mentions Dark Knight may be the film of the decade but isn't sure about rewatchability yet....I agree! This smiley is so "almot famous" BTW

BOO, how bout some constructive feedback, I thought it was an interesting way to incorporate the movie w/ the NBA. Do you agree with what Simmons says, that it's the best film of the decade?

Rollerball is the best film of the decade hands down. It manages to mix the high intensity of rollerball with the awesomeness of the future and LL cool J

I loved Almost Famous since I grew up with the bands of the 70s but films like Gladiator, and especially Lord of the Rings, offer some stiff competition. Not much can compete with LOTR in the past decade.

If you listen to Bill Simmons' podcast one of the key criteria in Almost Famous being the best film of the decade is it's rewatchability. He points out that Dark Knight could turn out to be the best film of the decade, but he'll need to see how good it is in 5 years when he's seen it multiple times.

I'm not sure what I'd call the best film of the decade. I definitely agree that Almost Famous is the most rewatchable despite the fact that I've probably seen it 50 times. I think in the long run Dark Knight will be my favorite, but anytime I'm flipping through the channels and see Almost Famous on Cinemax I'm guaranteed to watch at least 20 minutes of it, regardless of what part of the movie it's at.

I don't know about best film of the decade, but it definitely belongs in the top tier of the list to be considered for the honour.

As for the film itself? Yeah, definitely amazing. However, the Untitled Bootleg Director's Cut is so much better!!!

Definitely agree on the Director's Cut. Most (not all) director's cuts don't add anything and are just an excuse to make money, but you can tell Untitled was the intended version of the movie, but the studio wouldn't release it because it was too long. However, I can understand why the studio refused to release a movie called Untitled, which was Cameron Crowe's intended title.

While I love The Dark Knight, I think after all the overkill for it last year (I've seen it 11 times in the last year) I feel Batman Begins is a solid contender for it in the rewatchability category.

However, Almost Famous is a solid flick, tough to say which is the movie of the decade, may need a few more years to determine that since TDK may not hold up.

Agreed, if i had to say one negative thing about how great TDK is, it would be that it overshadows Batman Begins which in itself is a really good movie and in many ways is a bit more of a compact story compared to the dark knight, i also think all the hype might age TDK a little bit more then begins did

But yes the list of movies from this decade better then almost Famous is endless, i personally woulnd't even put it in my top 10

But what do i know, i'm not writing about movies for a sports site

If rewatchability is the key defining factor to make up best film, then it turns out Super Troopers is the best film of the last decade and Caddyshack of all time. Glad we got that cleared up.

It's really sad to me that just because of an article about a movie that came out on the site of the "world wide leader in sports", we've been reduced to comparing Almost Famous (a film that has eeked by all its life) to TDK. Don't get me wrong because I like Almost Famous but d@mn!!! it's not that good. I can pick 3 movies from every year of this decade so far that I would rather watch and call better than Almost Famous.
