My Cousin Vinny Blu-ray Released Early

Fans of "My Cousin Vinny", if you happen to be in the Seattle area, the Best Buy store in Lynnwood has it for sale already. Even though the release date is 8/4/09, it appears it has been on shelves for at least a week. The price is a whopping $29.99 but I suspect since it technically isn't supposed to be for sale yet, the lower "1st week of release" sale price hasn't hit their systems yet. My guess is next week it will be $19.99 but if you want to pick it up early, that location is the only one I can confirm has it for sale now.

Not sure if all Best Buy stores jumped the gun and released it early but I know the Lynnwood store here in Seattle has them. $29.99 was too much in my opinion, I will wait next week, as it will cheaper.

I guess if the price is lower next week you can simply have them price match it down. I can't see this being a $29.99 Blu-ray, Amazon has it for about $22, my guess is perhaps $19.99 next week.

Since they released it early there was no way to price match anyone else and they had it for $29.99 which seemed about $10 too high so I passed on getting it. Perhaps someone else has picked it up early. I do know it is one 25GB disc and there was no digital copy with it. I was hoping there would be some extra material such as a making of documentary, but nothing except a few trailers. Personally I thought Blu-ray was supposed to feature so much space that filmmakers could include bonus material, etc, but so many titles seem to be lacking it.

If you buy it from Best Buy, they will price match their own price after thirty days. All you have to do is bring your receipt and ad with a lower price and they will price match. So technically you could pick it up now and have them price match next week when the price is lower.

Oh I know, I just didn't want to pick it up because I wanted to wait for some reviews. I have been disappointed in a few Blu-ray releases such as Tommy Boy, how poorly done the transfer was, and decided to wait until the Blu-ray review was posted or some others had a chance to view it. Chances are it will be $20 next week, and while I could have bought blindly and then had them price match, I just decided to wait.

Nope but to be honest, I didn't check. I need to hit up another Best Buy tomorrow, will take a look and see if they too have Vinny and Big Trouble as well.
