If you see anything that is not on the list or is mislabeled, please PM me and I will try to fix it ASAP. Note: This is an International list so the title in Blu may not be available in your country, but it is available somewhere. Further, this list was confirmed by using Blu-ray.com movie finder, and to keep everything even let’s just keep to the info posted on this site, but feel free to list rumors from other sites and please reference your source.

Interesting list...

These things are always interesting.

I find it interesting that The Searchers (listed 12th) beat out 2001: A Space Odyssey (listed 15th). They are both fantastic movies on BD, but I would put 2001 as a must-have before The Searchers, no matter where they could have been on the list.

Of the ones not announced I must get The Gold Rush... possibly the best comedy ever.
Most anticipated release: The Hidden Fortress

Apocalypse now was rumoured for a 2009ish release here on 12/03/08. So far there’s nothing to substantiate the rumour.

I find it interesting that either of those are on a list of top films but then we all have our opinions.

I would love to get and watch many of these movies in BD. Hopefully they are given the proper treatment visually and with supplements.

One i'm surely waiting for, Lawrence of Arabia, if done right should be amazing on Blu-Ray. Hopefully it is getting the proper treatment.

We are seriously lacking in Chaplin's BD, we need Gold Rush, City Lights, Modern Times & The Great Dictator.

I always disliked the afi 100 greatest movies list simply for the fact that the citizen Kane is #1. That is perhaps one of the most boring movies I have ever seen, yeah yeah blah blah technical significance. But technical advances do not a good movie make. If that is all it takes why isn't Beowulf number one? get my drift. I am not the only one who thinks this, saw a review of citizen kane and it had a great quote in it that is very apt to my feelings of that movie

"it is perhaps the greatest movie that no one wants to watch."

My rant is finished now, but indeed it is an interesting list. I don't know why I am surprised at how few of those movies have actually been released but oh well.

My only problem with the AFI list is that they're all American films. Yes, I know that's part of the AFI acronym, but still, it would be nice to have a list of the "all time greatest films" no matter what country they came from.

Just so we're clear....your problem with the list of America's greatest movies is that they're all American?

There are plenty of those. You are more than welcome to follow jk1138's lead and annotate them in a helpful manner:

Did you not read the rest of what I wrote? It's just a bit stupid that the "be all and end all" of top movie lists has to include just American films, or those that have significant American contribution, when it's clear that genius has come from other countries.
