Re above, I would say slipcases/slipcovers are usually first print runs only on most releases. Been collecting slipcases DVDs and now Blu Rays since DVDs came out (10 years+ ago) and from experience after a while the later release stock has no slipcases. It depends on how many they make in the initial runs, pre-release and around release date and how well they sell. Sometimes they will do a limited amount and other times they will print so many that months go by and you can still pick them up but then again it also depends on how well the movie sells or how successful it is. You get some releases with slipcases but the movie was not that successful so the copies will sit on shelves for longer.

Hard to say with Bond though as here in the UK all the Bond releases came in slipcases and months on I have yet to see a copy without slipcases but then again how well are they selling? It could be the same old stock sitting there for months on end especially if the price is high which after the first few weeks of release it can sit at full price rather than a lower chart price and with people being more savvy these days they know to get it cheaper on the net. The majority of folk will not be that bothered about slipcases and hate to say it but many chuck them in the bin.

My recommendation and what I generally stick to myself is if you like the movie, it gets released in a slipcase and want it, get it when its new as sometimes they disappear so fast by the second week of release they can be a hard find. An example was Taken Blu Ray UK release, within days the slipcase releases were gone even from the internet and just the plastic keep case was only provided for new releases. I missed out but if you search hard enough or troll eBay and ask sellers you can find one with a slipcase, luckily enought that is how I sourced my copy. Was great to receive it in the post with slipcase cover after so much effort, rather like finding that elusive record in the heydays of searcing for records in record stores.

The lists have been updated. It would be nice to have a thread regarding whether certain BD ships from amazon with slipcover or without it. Should I start one or is there another person interested in taking care of this matter?

AFAIK, Crank 2 BD does not have a slipcover. Anyone else got other news?

I don't think that's necessary but it's your call. Amazon ships them if they're in the warehouse. It's all based on availability. The slipcovers don't last long and are usually only printed once. I bought Beetlejuice about a month ago and didn't think I'd get the slipcover. It actually came with one..That's pretty good for a movie that's been out for a year. You can send the disk back or contact the manufacturer for a slipcover. Some people on here have been successful at doing that.

I wanted to get the new Casino Royale release. Amazon has it for a good price but that slipcover is becoming harder to find than Dracula. So I backed down.

This is a nice initiative, I love digipack/slipcovers on my dvd's/blu-ray's

I actually have a few that are missing from this list:

Alien vs Predator: Requiem has more of a slipbox than the typical slipcover, since the opening is on the side, I'm not sure what your definition of a slipbox is but anyway
Celine Dion: A new day slipcover with extra foldout page
Planet Earth same type of slipbox as AvP:R (opening on the side)

Maybe you should even add a "not slipbox/slipcover" section for things you would expect there to be, I have a good example of that as well:

Prison Break Season 3 - Fully expected some kind of slipbox, but it only came as a standard thick blu-ray case, very disappointing...

I too need the Casino Royale slipcover so if anyone has any advice on how to get it that would be great. I've never seen a copy with one but many have said it does have one. Also, I think your chances of getting one for Ghostbusters are good but I think King Kong slipcovers are starting to get a bit hard to find.

Agreed. You'll probably get one for Ghostbusters but Kong is hard to fine nowadays. I saw Casino Royale @ Borders with the slipcover...only reason it is still there is because they want about $40 for it...

Edit: Season 1 is a slipcover rather than a slipcase. It was added under the slipbox section. Also, as confirmation, it currently states 'rumored'.

The cardboard slipcover featuring all the details hides a cleverly designed case meant to look like a Pie Hole menu.

The first Stargate movie is a pretty barebones release and there is a re-release with more material coming out soon so I would wait for that, I wish I had.
