The Bourne Identity problem - Blu-ray Forum

There are a few scenes where the screen freezes and all of a sudden i'm 15 to 20 seconds further. I once had the same problem with a DVD (not on my PS3) but when I played it on my PC everything was fine. Is the PS3 my problem or is the Blu-ray messed up?

If you have no other problems with movies on your PS3, then it's the disc.

I just got my Blu-ray copy of this movie yesterday but have yet to watch it. Will let you know if I encounter the same problem. Hope not...

I bought and watched my copy last month on my PS3 with no issues. Possibly a defective disc. You've had no other problems with any other discs on the PS3?

They send me another copy some time ago, and that one worked fine. So it was probably a faulty disc. However, I noticed that many people have this issue on their PS3 that some scenes just skip like 10 seconds or more.

i have the same prob with the disc i have it freezes at the start of the car chase its one of the new flipper discs

I have about 150 movies. Have watched all but maybe 3-4. I have had that problem with only one disc - Goodfellas. One of my all time favorites.

Defective? maybe. I +1 everybody else that says return (exchange) for a new one. The store should have no problem exchanging for the same movie.

My fliper of identity had no problems on that scene or the rest of the movie.
I would return it for another copy.

My flipper was also problem free. Sounds like it's just a bad disc.

Could be a smudge or fingerprint.

I have the same problem. It skips at three different moments in the car chase. I have the flipper disc and use a PS3. The disc is spotless. I bought this 3 months back so I hope I can still exchange it.

I have the UK version of all three Bourne movies and none of them freeze.

I just bought the repackaged set (not flipper-discs) last night and the Bourne Identity skipped in the car chase scene as described earlier. Was there any consensus as to it being a problem with the disc or with the PS3?

If the UK set works fine for me and everyone else, I see no reason why the US (non-flipper) set would be a problem. Maybe you got a defective set or you player needs updating. It has to be one of the two.

I got the box set over a year ago and the 'Identity' skipped during the car chase too.

I have a Sony BDP-s550. I'm not sure what firmware I had at that time, but I can assure anyone that it was the latest available.

A couple months ago (just for the hell of it) I threw in Identity just to check because there had been a few updates since I last played the BD.

I went straight to the car chase scene just to check it out and it did not skip at all. I don't know if it would have been different had I actually watched the disc start to finish.

If anyone having the problem has the ability to update their firmware, I recommend updating.

Although, my general belief is that there were a large batch of bad discs from Universal. I've read about this problem elsewhere too.

My box set was purchased brand new, not used, and there is not one mark on any of the discs.

I still feel like the PS3 is the top player around and given it's frequent firmware updates I would think that it would be a problem with the disc and not the player, but I have not come to a consensus and it seems like I could have gotten a bad disc. Anyone else with PS3s have this issue?

What is it with everyone and the PS3. The PS3 is designed to be a gaming system, not for playing movies. I've never, ever trusted any Playstation system to play my DVD's nor my Blu-rays. That's what a Blu-ray player is for, one that does not play videogames.

I just purchased the re-released Bourne Identity Boxed Set and I hope to sit down and enjoy this set.
