Galaxy Quest on Blu-ray - Blu-ray Forum

Wal-mart.com has Galaxy Quest coming out on BD in 11/09. I don't see this anywhere else including Amazon.

Also, it was stated that LOTR was coming out on BD this year. But there is nothing on Amazon for that either. With September '09 fast approaching, shouldn't release dates be out for BDs coming this year?

LoTR is coming out in November, the theatrical cuts anyway. Pretty sure Galaxy Quest doesn't have a release date yet.

I love Galaxy Quest, but the main feature I would love to see in a BD release would be an "unrated" version--particularly one line by Sigourney Weaver which was so obviously dubbed over in post, probably to secure a PG-13 rating for the theatrical release. Would be nice if the original dialogue is restored because it's pretty distracting, I think.

I agree! There wouldn't even have to be any other changes to the movie. Just having what obviously was the original line would be much better. That dub is SO horrible. There's no question about what she really said there.

Not so sure a franchise would be such a good idea. It's one of those movie that work fine and was such an original idea but not sure it would work again in a second movie. I am kind of happy they stuck to only one movie, make's it even more original and special IMO

I think Galaxy Quest is better than the latest installment from the franchise they're spoofing and it's not even close. Galaxy Quest featured a strong performance from Alan Rickman and a better than normal performance from Tim Allen and a strong over-all performance from most of the cast, not to mention lots of laughs.

This definitely could have and should have been a franchise. I even know what would have made a great plot for the second movie.

Yes, when an actor's mouth doesn't match the dialogue, it distracts from the experience.

Day one for me too. I remember seeing this movie soon after I saw Star Trek Nemesis. Galaxy Quest is not only a great comedy, but I was drawn into the story a lot more than the one from Nemesis. (although Nemesis was a really bad movie)

Can't wait for that movie.

I hope they keep the aspect ratio that the theatrical release had. If any of you saw it, the side masking was open to scope (2.35) but for the first part of the movie the film had the side bars showing 1.78. Then, when Jason (Tim Allen) is in the transport pod looking out into space from the ship, the film slowly opened up to full scope.

For those of you who missed it at the theater, it's a great effect that IMO should be not only on the dvd, but absolutely on the blu-ray.
