My all time favourite werewolf movie(s) is Ginger Snaps (I say movies as there are 3). First is the best (as tends to be the case) it is sorely missing on Blu-ray, but given its low budget and dodgy film stock probably won't look too much better... (at least I keep telling myself that)

American Werewolf is awesome and a true testament to films that are made with great stories standing up today.. shame about the sequel but oh well.

The Howling is great too, but you should also check out Neil Jordan's Company of Wolves... the UK have it on BD and it is quite an improvement over the DVD (which I believe we just got here in Australia)

I've heard alot of good things about Ginger Snaps, but not sure if its jump out at me. However, Company of Wolves sounds awesome, so I'll be looking into that one.

Totally agree. Ginger Snaps is a great film. Is it available on Blu?

Just watched Ghost. Haven't seen it since it came out in 1990. Great performance from the late great Patrick Swayze and also from Whoopi.
Solid transfer is nvery good and solid for an older title.
Cheers,

I am a big fan of werewolf movies too. I think that the picture quality on the the blu ray release American Werewolf in London is very good and is unlikely to be surpassed in the future.

My top 5 werewolf movies are:

The Howling
American Werewolf in London
Dog Soldiers (really hoping for a Region B blu ray release of this movie)
Underworld - 1st Movie
Ginger Snaps (hopeful of a blu ray release at some stage but not overly optimistic)

I've got the Transporter 3 steelbook, I've actually been thinking I might sell it and buy the standard edition (or just give it to my brother as he doesn't have it), because I'm personally not to fond of steel cases, I only bought it cause it was cheaper by $10 than the standard edition when it was 1st released a couple of years back.

Watched Galapagos and into the deep 3d, I really enjoy these 2 documentaries, they had a lot less visible crosstalk/ghosting (almost none to be honest, and any that was visible was so mild it was really nothing to worry about) compared to the sharks 3d doco I watched couple of weeks back, which I find interesting considering into the deep was filmed in 1995 and Galapagos was filmed in 1999.
Setup

What scenes in particular did you fell was overall to flat?
The throne room scene near the begining. So much so, I thought my battery in my glasses had died at one point lol. Various scenes here and there. I agree with you though, It could have been better, but overall very good. $25 was a reasonable price for a 3d title.

Bought: Avatar 3D and The Last Airbender 3D. $110 ($80 + $30) for both with free Reg. post on ebay. I thought it was a great deal considering what everyone else is selling them for a left testicle. Im not expecting much 3D wise from The Last Airbender but still a good little film to have on blu.

Now I'm not having a go at anyone here and I do recognise the price for Avatar as being "good" compared to what others are selling it for but I have to ask: As the regular version can be picked up for $20-25, does 3D really make the film 3-4 times more enjoyable/better?

Apart from 3D not doing much for me one of the things I have serious issues with is weighing up the cost vs. perceived benefit. I know it's the new "thing" and therefore will be more expensive but I find the prices on some titles to be just this side of ridiculous. Fortunately new release titles seem to be more competitively priced but I'm just curious to hear from people who actually have it - do you think it really makes the films better and if so how much, or is it just different?

I dont think it makes it better. I really enjoy 3D, have since a young age. Its basically just an option. Im just willing to spend $80 for it which I think is still a great price. Not the best price. Ive held back long enough and Id like to see it in 3D again. Since Ive been here Ive saved a lot going through amazon. Ive learnt a little patience over the last few months. Ive even delayed my current Amazon order till March 1st. Plus, unfortunatly not everyone has patience or control like you do. Your the master at that LOL. Not picking on you in any way, thats a good thing. I suppose it just comes down to budget and how much one is willing to pay.

Each to their own, but I tend to agree with u about paying that much for it (and I'm also not having ago at anyone either). I just look at it this way, after buying the original release of Avatar last April for $25 and then the extended version just a few months ago for about $25 too, I certainly wouldn't and wasn't going to pay that kind of money for it. I'm just lucky my brother got me a free copy of Avatar 3d through his work just a few weeks ago, otherwise I wouldn't own it. I will say though that watching it in 3d at home imo was far better than at the cinemas and also was better than watching it in 2d at home. It doesn't make the movie 3-4 times better by watching it in 3d, but it's just another option, and is a completely different movie experience at home with it, especially if u have a good 5/7.1 sound field created and setup, which really adds to the effect. I think if you're a person who doesn't really care for 3d much, avatar is still the exception and a title that I think everyone should own if ever jumping on the 3d bandwagon.

It's just a shame that the 3d blu-ray version which Panasonic have exclusively is only the standard edition and not the extended edition, which is another reason why I would not pay the high price for it that everyone is at the moment. Apparently Panasonic are going to be giving it out with their $200 blu-ray players here in Australia within the next few months, so if anyone wants the 3d version of Avatar, I would suggest waiting, because even if u have a blu-ray player and don't want to buy another one, u would still be out in front if u bought one of Panasonic's players just for Avatar 3d then sold it without the movie on ebay.

I just can't wait for autostereoscopic TV's to come out and make current glasses-wearing 3D TV's obsolete. Not to mention they'll be releasing all those 3D movies again in the autostereoscopic format!

It's going to be a bit of a long wait, because there's no chance that glasses free 3dtv will even come close to glasses tech for at least another 5 years. Besides all current 3d blu-ray movies will be 100% compatible with all future 3d tech that we are currently aware of. Your comment is kind of a prime example of all the propaganda that's out there regarding current 3dtv tech. It's your opinion and choice if u don't like the glasses, but really unless your planning to watch everything in 3d in the future when u decide to get a 3dtv, such as the news (which in my opinion is just ridiculous), then wearing a pair of glasses every now and then honestly isn't a big deal. I thought the same thing about the glasses before I bought a 3dtv, but they are very comfortable and light weight, plus they also fit over prescription glasses with no probs and are still comfortable. If you're worried about what u look like, really who gives a s**t, it's not like you're out trying to pick up, and if price is a concern, my glasses didn't cost anything, because I got 6 pairs with my 3dtv for free.

3d isn't really all that expensive to get into either, I actually saw a 50 inch Samsung 3d plasma (which is their top of the range plasma) for $1500 just yesterday. That's a lot less than what it costs to run a car per year, and considering u will get 3-5 years use out of it before any new 3d tech catches up with current active shutter tech, then I think that's a pretty good deal. If I want something now and can afford it (which is why I understand why Black13teen decided to spend the money he did on Avatar 3d, even if I wouldn't have), then to me a measly $1500-$3000 means nothing if I'm going to get enjoyment out of it. What's the point of always waiting 5 or 10 years for stuff just to save such a small amount of money, u just end up wasting your life that way thinking about peanuts.

Something tells me that current 3D blu-ray's made for current 3D technology won't be compatible with future auto 3D. For one, you have those glasses that need to 'blink' to view the 3D image, otherwise the image is fuzzy, whereas the auto 3D image is visible without any accessories. And two, and most importantly, do you really think the movie companies will let the chance of making more money by re-releasing stuff go astray!?

Also, for the record - I wear prescription glasses when watching TV and such. I really don't want to wear ANOTHER pair of glasses on my face regardless of how comfortable they are.

Like I said above it's your choice if u don't like the glasses, but I wear prescription glasses too (only for reading, watching tv and driving) and my fiancee wears glasses 24/7 as she is as blind as a bat, and wearing 3d glasses is no concern to us at all.

I'm not going to argue in this thread with u about future 3d blu-rays, all I'm going to say is that u need to read more about it because u are incorrect. Studio's may rerelease new 3d versions of movies they release in 3d now with better transfers in the future, but current 3d blu-rays will still work just fine with any future 3dtv tech that anyone is currently aware of.
