I hear so highly of Samsungs when it comes to LED's but i cant see The Sammy's having better blacks when it usies Edge lighting..... Wouldnt the middle of the screen suffer and doesnt it rule out Local Dimming... Seems like if i get the Samsung i'll be paying for thickness and not PQ Harmony 1000 Sharp 46inch 1080p Sony STR DG-720 7.1 TrueHD & DTS HD (Compatible) Sony CN5000 (Center) Sony F6000's (Fronts) Sony B1000's (Rears) Yamaha YST030 (Sub) Blu-Ray Player - PS3 80gb Last edited by DarkhovaHT; 09-22-2009 at 04:58 AM. |

The new Samsung 8500 series will be local dimming and only adds .4 inches to the depth of the edge lit LED sets. The only draw back is a 55" set will be $4500.00. I guess I'll have to wait until Christmas 2010 when they will be $1900.00

nice furniture there sherm..
From what it sounds like the technology is comparable to each other in terms of quality. Both look like nice sets, just comes down to your personal taste as always. Also if you shop around the prices are quite comparable. Samsung is cheaper at some places while sharp is cheaper at others. good luck |
