Blue Underground is awesome! They give us hard to find horror on Blu-ray.
I already own The Bird With the Crystal Plumage, Dead & Buried, Two Evil Eyes, The Stendhal Syndrome and Bad Boy Bubby. Really looking forward to The New York Ripper and The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue. And as mentioned in the news here on Blu-ray.com today; the original Toolbox Murders will also be released.

They'd be more awesome if they released Suspiria and Deep Red (English and International verisons via seamless branching), already!

This company is ran by William Lustig, who used to work for Anchor Bay, when they used to be a top quality re-issue company back in the good ol' days. Lustig now has a lot of the older Anchor Bay classics with his stellar company Blue Underground. I would like to see a blu release of the western "Django", not sure if that will ever happen though.

My two cents:
They do have a lot of interesting movies that I want to see come out, including a lot of Euro-horror like the Argento stuff. I bet The Crazies will come out to tie in with next years remake. One note though, rights for Suspiria now belong to The Weinstein Company which they picked up along with the remake rights. Presumably though it will be distributed through Vivendi now due to recent development with Genius Products. There was a horror movie podcast a few months ago in which was stated a new release of Suspiria for DVD and Blu-ray was in the works, though who knows when it will come out. With the Weinstein's recent financial woes the Blu-ray probably had a good chance of being cancelled outright, but the Vivendi deal bodes well.

Yeah, Maniac was actually one of the first titles mentioned in Blue Underground's announcement when they were going blu. We'll most likely see this early 2010, along with The Prowler (and hopefully Zombie and Suspiria!!)

I will be grabbing The New York Ripper, great slasher flick. Can't wait for Maniac which is one of my favourite Blue Underground films, can't wait to see Tom Savini blow his head off!
Hoping The Crazies gets released when the remake hits the theatre, and its only a matter of time before we see Suspiria, though I heard rumours of a remake for that one, I hope not. I didnt know The Bird with the Crystal Plumage was out on blu, is that a NA release? I also didn't know Uncle Sam was a Blue Underground movie, man I thought that one was terrible, I remember laughing so hard at the end when the house blows up and you can see all the ropes attached to Uncle Sam as he goes flying through the air, that will look even worse on blu! Is Dead and Buried good or worth a blind buy? |

I personally think it's an overlooked gem from that era. I am glad Blue Underground has been able to release it.

is the blu-ray worth upgrading from DVD? I understand the print is verrryyy grainy (as it was filmed that way) as for Blue Underground-- I hope they release all of the DARIO ARGENTO classics--- that would be awesome! |

Their recent blu-ray of New York Ripper, on the other hand, is nothing short of miraculous.

Dead & Buried is a must have on Blu-ray. It looks great! Yes it's grain in it, but that's how the movie should look. |
