Default Alice in Chains - Black Gives Way To Blue

Out today

I've heard just a few tracks from it.....listening to streaming radio and the tracks released on the local station. Overall, it seems like a Degradation Trip disc 3. That's not saying it's a bad thing, just miss their edge. Cantrell sounds great in the few tracks I've heard. I was torn on whether to buy this CD or not......but I'm going to pick it up today.

Though, I don't want to pay 19.99 at best buy even if it comes with a free t-shirt.

Anyone else picking this up?

Here is the track listing. Ones I've heard are in blue, and I dig all secrets known the most and the track I like the least is check my brain.

1. All Secrets Known
2. A Looking In View
3. Check My Brain
4. Last of My Kind
5. Your Decision
6. When the Sun Rose Again
7. Acid Bubble
8. Lesson Learned
9. Take Her Out
10. Private Hell
11. Black Gives Way to Blue

Ah, I'm at work right now . I'll probably pick it up at lunch. Where'd you pick it up? I may try Target to see how much it is there.

I used the Best Buy in-store pickup option, ordered first thing this morning and picked up at lunch. $9.99, same as Amazon's price. It's one of those cardboard type disc cases...

Album is amazing, every song is great. My favorite is Acid Bubble.

*waits for somebody to say this isn't AiC because of no Layne*
It's a band logo.

I'm going to pick it up after work today. I usually just download albums. However Alice in Chains have always been one of my favorite bands, so I'll get an actual copy for a change.

I love AIC! I miss Layne, but Check My Brain does have the classic AIC "sound" to it. It was also typical Cantrell, which is a good thing as well. I haven't pull the trigger yet, but I think I should.

I've been torn about picking it up as well. I've seen Cantrell twice in concert back in 02 I believe it was, or 03 when he was touring around promoting Degradation Trip. Great concert and he played many AIC songs.

I have some rewards that would pay for it at BB, just need to get it. Going on a trip Friday, it'll be a good time to give it a spin.

It does have the AIC sound for sure, in particular it reminds me of Grind (the album, not the single). I'm digging it so far. You can almost hear Layne singing along, even though he's not...

Glad to see your liking it. So it's more like tripod? I thought it would be just from the songs I've heard. Tripod is a good album - Shame in You, Brush Away, Sludge Factory being my favorite from the it. I tend to skip track 4

I thought Grind was the single from their self titled final album? The one rumored to be titled "Tripod" after the three legged dog.

I wonder if they purposely went out to get a new lead that sounds like Layne, or if he just so happened to be the best guy for the lead. It is awefully ironic how much he sounds like him. I have always really dug Layne's voice, as you could almost "feel" his addictions and pain when he crooned and wailed.

Best line in any of their songs and as poetic as any grunge lyrics could be IMO: "Know Me Broken By My Master, Teach Thee On Child Of Love Hereafter, Into The Flood Again, Same Old Trip It Was Back Then " - Would

God I miss him, but this new guy has potential.

Yes, you and Deadset are right on the money, it's the three-legged dog album. I don't know why I always call that CD "Grind" in my head, my mistake; but it is indeed self-titled, simply "Alice In Chains".
