I think it might get overlooked because of the overall content of the movie and that it is QT. I loved it but the academy is a bunch of idiots (minus them voting for The Departed) and ignore some of the best movies and performances. I would love nothing more then QT to win Best Picture or Best Director but I just don't see that happening.

I kinda think that The Lovely Bones has a chance to be up there if it as good as the book.

Default bare bones...?

I read that they were releasing a bare bones edition in december to keep it fresh in minds for awards season and then releasing a special edition later after they have more time.

"So are you chomping at the bit to get your Academy Screener, err... bare-bones " Inlgourious Basterds ," DVD? According to DenofGeek , their sources tell them the Quentin Tarantino DVD is being slated for a Monday December 14 U.K. release, with the U.S. receiving the film on the traditional Tuesday, making it that December 15. Of course The Weinstein Company you'll remember are rushing the Basterds' DVD in time for Oscar season so they'll save money on shipping specialized, watermarked DVDs to Academy member"

Weinstein is not releasing this on home video, they sold the right to Universal because they are nearly bankrupt.

Not if the fellow that works at Walmart has it right. Look back at the bottom of page 2. He says his Inglourious Basterds will be a FRIDAY release. Friday, December 18 to be exact.

Disappointing that we'll have to wait even 3 additional days to see this wonderful movie again! I'd already called a movie party at our house for December 15. Looks like I might have to postpone it three days!

The UK has a limited edition steelbook.

Maybe this is a good clue as to the special features we can expect.

HMV UK has a listing with the same picture as Play. Although HMV UK wants £23.99 for it. HMV UK ships to N. America.

Yes, the trailer is out. The film has played at several festivals in preparation for its release, so there are a ton of advanced reviews.

There has been a teaser as well as a full trailer, and as retablo has said the word coming out of the festivals is enormously high.
