I saw this movie in Best Buy and was going to buy it but I thought I should wait and check Amazon's price when I got home. Well when I check on Amazon it says this movie is not yet released and to sign up to be notified when it is. Huh? Has anyone else seen this movie available at Best Buy or anywhere else? Thanks.

I'm waiting for Fox to put 1 & 2 together in a bundle and sell it for $25
Both are great childhood movies. |

Ditto. Bought Home Alone 1 (Family Fun Edition) on DVD about three years ago for about $9, then bought Home Alone 2 last year on DVD for $7 on Boxing Day. Despite having paid only $16 for the combo on DVD, I'd certainly upgrade and just pass off the copies on DVD to family members.

Here's my review that's really focused on the quality, 'cause that's what this release asked for:
The quality in this film is disappointing. A lot of grain. I read an Amazon review and that person said it had "INSANE" amount of grain and he/she wasn't lying. It was so bad that his/her kid asked if there was something wrong with the TV - I was there. I don't think it has anything to do with the bitrate. This film needs a proper clean up. I think this was rushed or something. Was the latest DVD release of this movie like this? (was there visible grain?) This is very disappointing, considering how the first movie is superior than this in quality and the fact the sequel is a later released film, which should be treated if not better, at the same level. The only time when you won't notice these grains would be in scenes with a lot of lighting and stuff going on. Sadly, there is only little of that so about a good 4/5 of the movie (don't ask how I measured it that way) is filled with noticeable grain. When in dark, o man they're visible. It's a shame 'cause I really loved that scene *SPOILERS* near the end where the mom and Kevin hugged. It's as though there are a lot of flies around them. *END OF SPOILERS* As for the sound I have no complaints. I bought it 'cause it was on sale ($20 for Blu-Ray - why not right?). I didn't think it'd turn out like this. While I tried to enjoy the movie, I couldn't. But I somewhat still did, as hard as it was to try and ignore the grain and all. It's too bad my childhood movie got a butchered blu-ray release. A rushed one seemingly. So unless you don't mind waiting for another future remastered re-release (and let's hope they do), go ahead and buy it at your own will. Hopefully you pay for what it's really worth. 3 stars. |
