Well, no rumors of any kind of HD release. It's distributed by Dreamworks/Universal, and only exec-produced by Spielberg, so I'd sy the chances of a near-term release are basically 0. Now, once Universal goes Blu-ray and the Dreamworks payoff is done, it might. It was shot on 35mm, so it could definitely be done.

I'm sure it will someday, but probably not soon. I don't remember, how did it sell on DVD?

Just remember to not buy the first blu-realease version. They are ruining the bluray scene by tricking people into so so version's then do proper updated version.

I'm actually numb thinking about this bs, yet i'm thinking of buying more films..just maybe on dvd

The name of the topic is "Steven Spielberg's Taken" so it's about the 10 episode television series produced by Steven Spielberg.

I would hate to see how much this would cost on blu. It was like 90 when it came out on DVD.

Well Band of Brothers is also a 10 part miniseries from the same studio and that was pretty affordable on Blu, so this should cost about the same.

The first half of the series was incredibly epic; the second half, which focused on the little girl (especially the hostage ep.) were fairly pedestrian. Nevertheless, the first half (7 or 8 hours) in HD would easily warrant a purchase.

Other miniseries I would like on blu are The Stand, Salem's Lot (1978), and Amerika.
Favorite Movie: The Empire Strikes Back (R.I.P. Kershner)
Favorite Director: Cameron
Favorite BD: Sleeping Beauty Platinum Ed.
Most Anticipated BD: The Beyond

BD Wishlist (still TBA): Suspiria; The Last American Virgin; Oculto; Don't Look Now; The Abyss; Lone Star; Foul Play; Short Cuts; Spirited Away; The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada; The Mothman Prophecies; True Lies; Emanuelle in America; Salem's Lot ('79); What Lies Beneath; Kids; Sleeping Beauty ('11)

I loved this when it was shown over here... Bought it on DVD cheaply but will keep an eye on the quality before I buy it... good thing there are sites like this...
"Oh, I must give you my e-mail address. It's loismustdie@yahoo.com."

"Forecast for tomorrow; a few sprinkles of genius with a chance of doom!"

"Mother, life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. Your life, on the other hand, is like this box of active grenades!"

Thumbs up

Taken is an excellent miniseries, and I cannot wait for it to get a Blu-ray release so I can add it to my Blu-ray library.

This would make a great series on Blu-ray. The production quality was quite high for a television mini-series and should look good at 1080p.

Default Yes!!!

Ok...so it's almost been a year since someone posted on this thread...but I would love to see "Taken" on blu-ray! I am looking at my DVD set right now and trying to convince myself not to start watching it again. Although, maybe if I watch it, they will announce the BD realease as soon as the credits start to roll at the very end.
