Synopsis

"Creepy and effective." – Clint Morris, Moviehole

When Jenny cheated on her husband, he didn't just leave...he split.

From master of terror Brian De Palma comes this stylish psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final frame.

Carter Nix (Lithgow) is a respected psychologist, loving husband and devoted father who decides to take a year off to help raise his daughter. Carter's wife Jenny is pleased to have her attentive husband home – at first.

When Carter shows obsessive behavior toward their daughter, Jenny becomes concerned, and to complicate matters, Jenny's old flame re-enters her life. But nothing can prepare her for the emergence of Carter's multiple personalities, and a fiendish plot to recreate the infamous experiments of his deranged father.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I don't have to post in practically every new Scream Factory thread "BUT WHAT ABOUT RAISING CAIN?????" Hoping for a newer/newish transfer since the only DVD of this put out to my knowledge came out in 1998.

Nice. Like the art on this one. A bit different to the usual efforts.

Now Warner should release Femme Fatale (2002) so I can shut up about that one too.

you know, it wasn't really scary per se, but the way DePalma combines direction and music is truly amazing.

If you simply tell someone about the ending of CARRIE nobody would think that sounds scary... but when you see it

I saw Raising Cain on a double bill in Times Square just before they shut the strip down in the early 90's. Don't remember liking the film much back then. I was never much into 90's studio horror flicks.

Yeah it's from De Palma's glossy looking studio era (1987-2000), but it's more on the thriller side then horror even though I'd say it has a few nice jump scares.

Yeah there was like a 15 year period where many studios went out of their way to ruin the plots of their suspense thrillers (Here's looking at you What Lies Beneath!!!!!!!!!!!).

But seriously, Iím beyond excited for this! I love this movie and am looking forward to the special features. Although I do wish Scream would get back to the artwork style of the earlier releases. They Live, Prince of Darkness, Life-force etc.
