Default Do you guys buy every movie or only ones you love?

I used to buy a lot of BDs. Whether it was a blind buy that was cheap, or whether it was a movie that I liked. Now, I'm getting rid of my whole collection except for the movies I truly loved and ones that I want to rewatch.

What about you guys? Do you mostly buy movies that you really love or do you have a huge collection and pretty much own all you can afford?

I only buy movies I know I will watch repeatedly. There are a fair number of members that will buy just to buy. Look at the top 100 collections or so if you don't believe me. Some of them have every crap release on BD.

I'm probably guilty of buying stuff maybe just because it's cheap or blind buying too often.

I'm closing in on 400 blu rays and I know I have some I might not watch or rewatch. So I'm confused on how some of you guys have 1000+ but claim you don't have stuff you'll never watch.

I blind buy more now if its something i know i'll probably like but i look for the sales like Go Hastings or Family Video. I do go to the movies less, its cheaper to buy the movie, than to go see it in some cases.

I don't even buy all of the ones that I love. Taxi Driver, Apocalypse Now, Blue Velvet, A Clockwork Orange are all in my top 10 of all time but they are not films I will watch over and over. Don't see any reason to own them.

I buy movies I really love.

I buy movies I kind of love.

I buy movies I liked.

I buy movies I didn't particularly like but want to revisit.

I buy movies I've never seen that look really interesting.

I buy movies I've never seen that look kind of interesting.

I buy movies that seem like a good idea at the time that don't necessarily turn out that way.

Movies are pretty cheap. These days asking 'do you only buy movies you really love' is a lot like asking 'do you only go to theater to see movies you really love' or 'do you only rent movies you really love'.

I used to try and buy everything when I was collecting dvds, but when I started with blu's, I only buy movies I like. Except if they're stupid cheap, like with all those closing Blockbusters.

I'll go with these.

I also buy movies that I would want to show during movie night with friends/families.

I only buy them if i really like the movie. The packaging of the bluray or dvd will influence me on buying it too.

This is my only vice now and i'm happy with every single purchase I've made. So far i'm batting a thousand on blind buys.
Most wanted on Blu-Ray: Panic Room, Phantasm, and Dawn of the Dead (reprint or new scan).

I blind buy almost everything but I only blind buy stuff that interests me greatly. I always check the ratings the movie gets and I read a brief summary.

I also pay very close attention the directors/writers/actors, etc.

Every movie I have bought is a movie I either have already seen, or want to see, with only a few exceptions of blind buys in my collection. Most coming from reading the recommendations of other users on this site, or friends telling me about the movie.

In my entire collection I can honestly say there is only ONE movie I know for a fact I will NEVER, EVER watch it again, and that movie is Winter's Bone.

In no way am I calling it a bad movie, far from it, the story is just slow moving. It's one of those movies you say, "Yep, I saw it, but you have to be in the right mood to watch a movie like that due to it's pacing."

Also many of those in the top collections have multiple releases of the exact same movie, with the #1 guy having SEVEN COPIES of 2012.

SEVEN COPIES? Really?

95% of the movies I own are the ones I love and must have. The rest are blind buys and impulse buys.

I buy movies I enjoyed in the theater and know I'll be able to watch them over and over. So if a friend is over and says, "I want to watch X movie." Then I can be like "Sure, let's do it!"
