Good news! I can probably retire my Region B version. Hopefully the transfer is as crisp. The whole movie being structured around the Convoy song really pushes it a notch above being a '70s B-Movie.

Nice! Kino Lorber is really putting out some great "Saturday afternoon flicks." This will bring back a lot of memories.

I don't think there is much room for improvement. The region B is already very good. Nice selection of extras, too. Personally I don't think I'm gonna retire it.

Looking forward to this, I've had it in my Amazon.de wish list for months now, just hadn't made it around to buying yet.

I remember years ago seeing it on network television, I can't recall now, was extra footage added for the tv broadcast version?

It's definitely lesser Peckinpah, but it's still more Peckinpah on Blu-ray, which is always good news! And considering the film had never been officially released on R1 DVD, this is great news!
My 10 Most Wanted films on R1 Blu-ray: The Killers (Siodmak, 1946), Le Samourai (Melville, 1967), McCabe and Mrs. Miller (Altman, 1971), Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (Peckinpah, 1973), Streets of Fire (Hill, 1984), Barton Fink (Coen, 1991), A Bronx Tale (DeNiro, 1993), Strange Days (Bigelow, 1995), The Man Who Wasn't There (Coen, 2001), Femme Fatale (De Palma, 2002).

I am actually surprised that Nick Redman didn't want this for TT since he admires Peckinpah's work. (Although this isn't Sam's finest hour) I'd almost bet he passed on the title. I'm sure they could have secured it a long time back otherwise. (I love TT's releases)

I still need to buy this movie though, always been curious about it.
Stop the Replacing of original Studio Opening / Closing logos! These are becoming endangered and should be kept intact. They are part of film history.

I was thinking along the same lines. TT did a great job with the 4 Peckinpah films they have released (Major Dundee, Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia, and The Killer Elite, with Noon Wine as an extra on TKE).

Cool announcement. This was frequently requested when I worked at an indie video store, and always a bummer that it wasn't available in decent quality.

I think of Peckinpah's catalog similarly to how I do Ashby or Altman's despite the tonal and genre differences, in that the lesser films after their initial amazing streaks are still interesting, and add to our understanding of their artistry.

I just contacted Kino Lorber regarding the 100 minutes of supplements I produced for the UK/German blu-ray. It includes a 70 minute documentary starring Kristofferson, Ali MacGraw, Ernest Borgnine and the films producer Michael Deeley. I feel American audiences would love to see it. Here are some reviews:

The accompanying feature-length documentary is so good that they could have arguably released it as a main feature, with the movie as the supplemental feature … there’s no holding back here, this is a brutally honest reflection on the shoot and on Peckinpah himself, who was on his last legs. … Don’t miss this Documentary!
AVForums.com

…the extras here are truly first-rate, with a lengthy documentary on the making of the film which is perhaps even more interesting than Convoy itself…
Barry Forshaw, 30th September 2013

This is a brutally honest doc that does not sugar-coat the riotous atmosphere during filming or Peckinpah’s extremely erratic and wilfully destructive behaviour.

So, will the US release that is now up for pre-order contain these supplements you are referring to?
