Yeah, no one will pay $80 used when amazon has it new for $72. Used is going for around $45.

$48 to be exact but I will find out how much I will get back tomorrow, I am guessing $45 for the set which will break even

Do you guys think this will drop to $50 any time soon anywhere? I'm debating about whether or not I should just get it now or not. Also, did the packaging change or something? I thought I heard a mention of that...

I'm in the same situation, I really hope the individual releases will cause a respectable price drop for the set

Oh really? There's no Costco near me. Don't have a membership either. They seem to get a lot of good deals on Blus though - although they get good deals in general.

Find a friend with a membership, it's a heck of a deal.

At least watch Alien 3 and Resurrection before you sell them, should you decide to do that.

Definitely watch the films. You can do what you like, but, if you let that set go without at least going through "all" it has to offer, then you will really be missing out. Just my opinion. No pressure.

Watch the documentaries for 3 and 4. In many ways, they're better than the films.

I for myself would watch 3+4 if I already have them on Blu.

I saw all 4 films many many years ago and I think "Alien³" is the best of the bunch. I know I'm in the minority but give at least "Alien³" in it's Assembly Cut version a try cause it is at least good especially if you don't expect the best of the franchise or a classic masterpiece.

"Alien" and "Aliens" are more consistant and "Alien" has a great artsy look (not that 3 hasn't an ambitious and great look/style).
But I love the third for it's apocalyptic content and atmosphere.

Why does everybody hate Alien 3?, let me rephrase that question. Why does everybody bag on it? I think its a great film... Granted some characters dies without reason, and David Fincher did what he could with 20th Century Fox getting there hands in the mix. I love the director's cut or as its called the assembly cut. I think its a great film

To each his own, the assembly cut is a great film. Just go sell your set, it is clear you have no appreciation for the films

Well I consider it a guilty pleasure of mine. In fact, I like it quite a bit when I view it out of context from the first two movies.

However, I believe most of the hate is due to the main characters(from the previous films) final destiny in it, as it makes the story of the first two totally irrelevant and pointless as Ripley should have just stayed on-board the Nostromo when it blew up and saved a whole lot of other people much grief and tragedy.

If I do not have apperication of the films, I would not pre-order Alien 1 and 2 in May so your logic is stupid

Taking in consideration what Fincher had to put up with to make it, I also think it's a great film and a fitting one to end the franchise.

I think that everyone know that that is one of the main reasons why everyone tends to hate it without giving any credit to the film merits.

I, on the other hand, love that they killed them off, not only it's more fitting with the character - Ripley is a lonely person bound or cursed to battle her arch-enemy alone. She is a lone fighter and survivor - but it also gives us a chance to see something new.
