NP. Alien is an art and horror masterpiece, and Aliens was so influential that it has become a prototype for a lot of modern videogames and movies. Both are fantastic films!

It's a mistake in the script.
Where the hell do you get this idea from?

The "Bug Hunt" Hudson is referring to is a joke he is making about the report that is being read concerning Ripley's experience on the Nostromo, and her encounter with a Xenomorph (which is a made up technical name for a life form of unknown origin, but based on actual greek roots).
Xenomorph has always meant a creature of "alien" (as in from far away) origin in the context of the movie, unless you can prove otherwise (good luck with that).
Most awaited:

The Hobbit - 12/14/12, 12/13/13 & 7/18/14
Oz The Great and Powerful - March 8th 2013
Elysium - August 9th 2013
Pacific Rim - Juy 12th 2013

These Blu-rays are in Target for $14.99 each.

this is just about the cost of a movie ticket + gas to get to the theatre + popcorn, etc.

You would have no issue at all "blind buying" a ticket to a movie you've never seen, right ? At least with a Blu-ray, you are purchasing something you will own and can watch at your leisure, share with friends, and rewatch anytime you wish.

thats kinda how I took it as well. that Hudson was asking whether or not they were going in guns a'blazin or searching for critters and given how he asked he didn't seem excited about it possibly being a "bug hunt".

Just import the anthology from the uk..the cheapest. Even if you don't like 3 and 4 the two discs of documentaries are very good...

They changed the spelling also. Conveient for them, or wait, no it still makes no since for them? They are going to investigate something that the company does not even have proof, or know exsist, so how do the marines have any idea. If they realized there structure was under suspicion that it may be harmed buy something they knew about, why would they send marines. Burk is the olnly other person besides ripley that knows about the aliens and is there to represent the companies properties which were not insured, not just some person from the company he had exclusive ownership of. That is so obvious it's not even funny.

You just gave yourself away, big time.
Dig that hole deeper, buddy...keep on shovelin'.

Keep in mind, Alien and Aliens are VERY different movies. Alien is a more classic suspense/horror movie that just happens to have a Sci-fi setting, whereas Aliens is one of the grandest war films ever made (that again, happens to have a Sci-fi setting).

They both stand on their own very well. In fact, I saw Aliens before I saw Alien. If I had to recommend one over the other, if you can only get one I'd get Aliens. Sounds crazy, but the "suspense" of not seeing the Alien much in Alien so it's scarier (like Jaws) is kind of lost since you undoubtedly know what the Alien looks like already.

Aliens is a more exciting, kick butt movie - whereas Alien is more about atmosphere and tone. I've only seen Alien a few times, to be honest - but I know the lines in Aliens by heart.

Just my personal two cents. Mostly because, even if you start with Alien, I hope if it's not your fave movie you still give Aliens a chance 'cause it's the best movie Cameron ever made IMO.

Got the UK set in the mail earlier this week, watched the first film today. It looked wonderful in HD so glad I was finally able to procure this at a reasonable price.

LOL, I think you are the first person to say, "I always interpreted..." and not "Idiot, he means..."

To me it always had two meanings. I believe he meant was this a "just blindly killing unintelligent creatures" which didn't require much thought or training, or a real mission which required more skill with intelligent creatures.

Why I say it has two meanings is because it also was meant to be a comment on the Aliens themselves. They do have insect qualities which initially lead them to think "bug hunt" - bugs react and have instinct, but aren't generally intelligent even if they can problem solve in a limited fashion based on that instinct. However, adding to that to the Aliens skill and physical strength, is the sentient intelligence, particularly of the queen.

It's one of those things that adds to the rewatchability, as you can interpret it multiple ways based on your knowledge of what is to come, or the previous film. It's something to think about (as many have clearly done), in terms of yes, it did end up to be a bug hunt, but you shouldn't underestimate the "bugs" because these may not be the mindless drones you expect them to be.

One of he drop ships has "Bug Stomper" on the side of it. Obviously, that will partly explain what it means.

Question about the single disc versions: Do they have the theatrical and directors cut, or just one version?
