Wait for the separate releases then. If you don't want the extras and only two out of four films, then that's the logical choice.

Dear Aspiring Artist:

Here is my advice. Think of it as a five-year plan:
Take whatever courses you find the most interesting.
Study closely the work of the Old Masters.
Stop making art that originates only from your own imagination.
Stay with one technique until you perfect it.
On any given day, always be in the middle of reading a book. When you finish one, start the next. Fiction, nonfiction, biographies, autobiographies, history, science, psychology, or how to build a kite. Anything but go easy on the comic books.
Buy and read the first 6 pages of newspaper every day and also the editorial commentaries. Skip the entertainment section. Su Doku is fine. Do the crossword puzzle.
Fill up a sketchbook every month with pen or pencil drawings of the world around you, not from your imagination.
Buy a book on figure drawing. It's the only art book you will ever need.
Until you can draw an accurate portrait of someone, you don’t know how to draw.
Stay away from the airbrush. You'll never master it, hardly anyone ever has.
Visit every museum in your city. Often, until you have seen everything in it. Every kind of museum. Not only the art museums but, of course, those as well.
Forget about contemporary art by living artists, at least for the next few years.
Stay away from most art galleries. Go to art auctions. That's where the real action is.
Learn to play chess.
Take a business course.
Talk to you mother or father at least once a week.
Stop going to the movies until you have rented and seen every film on this list. http://www.time.com/time/specials/pa...953094,00.html
Do not watch television unless it’s the news or documentaries.
Do not use an Ipod.
No video games, either.
Learn a foreign language.
Learn to cook.
Spend 8 hours in a hospital emergency room.
Save up money so you can travel to a foreign country within the next five years.
Do not litter.
Avoid politically correct people.
Vote in every election or never dare to utter a political opinion. You are not entitled to one.
Buy a digital camera and take photos every day.
If you see nothing interesting to photograph, you will never be a good artist. Keep only one photo of every ten you take. Delete the rest. It will force you to learn how to edit the garbage from your life, to make choices, to recognize what has real value and what is superficial.
Visit an old age home.
Listen to classical music and jazz. If you are unable to appreciate it at least as much as contemporary music, you lack the sensitivity to develop into an artist of any real depth.
Go to the ballet. Classical or Modern, it doesn't matter. It will teach you to appreciate physical grace and the relationship between sound and movement.
Wake up every morning no later than 8 AM, regardless of what time you went to sleep.
Learn to play a musical instrument.
Learn to swim.
Keep your word.
Never explain your art. People who ask you to do so are idiots.
Never explain yourself. Better yet, never do anything that will, later, require you to explain yourself or to say you're sorry.
Always use spell check.
Stop aspiring and start doing.
This will keep you very busy but it can't be helped.
In my opinion, this is how you might, possibly, have a shot at becoming a good artist. "
Lemmie break it down:
1. Gain as much life experience as you can.
2. Throw out anything that distracts you from doing your art.
3. Draw constantly.

This is very old and sound advice to artists. The only thing I disagree with is the 'until you can draw a portrait, you are not an artist' bullshit. Anyone that creates anything is an artist. You don't have to be paid for it to earn the title (as Orson Scott Card believes), nor do you have to have wide critical success (as most critics claim) to be one either. All you need is a passion for whatever it is you enjoy creating and to actually engage in that act of creation. Congratulations, you are now an artist.

“Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self.”
-Cyril Connolly

Edit - I also disagree with this guy's "no iPod" rule. Music is an excellent way to initially get lost in your art. Once you transcend over to the other side, you really can't even hear the music anymore.

He said this..."Until you can draw an accurate portrait of someone, you don’t know how to draw"

He didn't say anything about not being creative or not being an artist. Surely there are dancers and singers who are artists but can't/don't draw. This was a statement about learning to recreate the literal.

Same here for me too.

I almost NEVER go above $20.00. However this set will end up being 'the top of the heap' in my collection, replacing the great 'Blade Runner' set in that spot.

No, it is not. It is a literal statement of skill vs. a given title, and it is the kind of intellectual hardening of the arteries that comes from people who have enjoyed too much commercial/critical success in their chosen field--people who's high and mighty hauteur gives them the belief that they can dictate the rules of the trade.
Art has no rules!

Can you draw a straight line? Then you can draw. Can you connect a writing implement to the medium of your choice and make a box or a circle? Then you can draw.

And although he is talking about drawing, most of his statements can apply to any art form. He's simply giving the same (mostly good) advice that's been handed down for centuries. I just hate when I see people like this start to go too far, using absolutes in a form of human experience that has no absolutes. It's ridiculous, and only serves to boost the ego of the person serving it up.

But anyway, we're starting to derail the thread. Back to the AA.

I for one find $100 to be a very fair price. If you are really into getting all the extras out of this (as I am), then you'd only be paying $20 per film and $20 for an extraordinary collection of stuff. That said though, I'm gonna wait for it to drop to at least $80 (and I'm really hoping for it to hit the $69.99 mark) before I pre-order.

It means they guarantee you'll get the lowest price they offer the item at.

Say you pre-order something at $25.00, but the price goes down to $20.00 on release day. They will only charge you 20.00 (or refund the difference).

Correct. But if the price drops after they ship your copy (which often happens), they will not rebate the difference.

They must be out of their freaking minds listing the msrp at $140, especially because of parts 3 & 4. I'll wait until they release these individually and only get parts 1 & 2.

How are they out of their minds? 4 movies on 6 discs. With a buttload of extras, including licensed ones.

An MSRP of $140 is about right. It should be had for about $80.00 or so on release day.

Note: The MSRP for the Batman Anthology was $130, and it can be had for about $75.

Note 2: The Planet of the Apes Boxset was also $130, and it can be had for around $55 now.
Bat-Mite: "Batman's rich history allows him to be interpreted in a multitude of ways. To be sure, this is a lighter incarnation, but is certainly no less valid and true to the character's roots then the tortured avenger, crying out for mommy and daddy."

Batman: The Brave & The Bold - Legend of the Dark Mite.

AND...if you you figure you get theatrical and special editions, it's EIGHT movies!

You're also paying for the oodles & oodles of extras, some of which I believe were not included in the Quad.

Realistically, this is made for fans of the entire franchise...those that want to see everything that's out there...not the people who only liked the first or second film.
