I have The Monster Squad, Frailty & Air America Blu-ray on hand!!!! - Blu-ray Forum

Yes, folks!! I have the Blu-rays of The Monster Squad, Frailty & Air America in my hands! As you know, these aren't supposed to be released until 11/24. I found them at a local big name retailer here in NJ. I can confirm they are Region free and come with DTS-HD MA 7.1 audio. I attached a pic.

Let me know which one you would like me to review first....

They were all $13.99. I have to make a correction though....The Monster Squad only has 5.1 DTS-HD MA.

You just made my day.

I don't recall Monster Squad getting a R2 DVD release, so chances of a BD coming soon in Europe are not very good. It would be extremely upsetting if I wasn't able to own this film on BD. I was able to import the DVD just fine because my DVD player is region-free, but no such luck with my current BD player.

Now I only need to find out if My Bloody Valentine and Cujo are also region free, especially My Bloody Valentine (which I have pre-ordered).

I was disappointed that I couldn't find Cujo or My Bloody Valentine along with these 3. MS, Frailty and Air America have Region ABC on the back and I am currently playing MS on my Region 2 player.

How does Frailty look? Hopefully it isn't DNRed! I know my DVD's encode is in ruff shape dirt/print wise.

Frailty looks very good especially during the daytime scenes. I noticed very light grain but it is possible some light DNR may have been applied; I am no expert though. The DTS-HD MA is very good too. I would Frailty a 4/5 for PQ and 4.5/5 for AQ. As for The Monster Squad I also noticed light grain..... PQ a 4/5 although some scenes look a little soft. As for A/Q I would give it a 4/5. They are both definite upgrades over the DVDs especially at this price point. I should also mention that Monster Squad has some white speckling from time to time so it is apparent that it needs to be remastered at some point in the future.

Saw all of these at my local BJ's today for $13.99. Was able to pick up Monster Squad and Air America for $9.99 due to some misleading sale signs.

I think they also had Red Heat

I own over 1500 dvds, 350 blus, and at one time had over 400 laserdiscs. And I've never ever stumbled on a title in store before a release date.

Well, Ive seen them on shelf at Fry's, but they won't sell them till the release date, which is printed on the label. Just once I wanna find something early! LOL

I found Monsters Inc at my local Sams Club today. If Id run into Monster Squad and Frailty, I would have snatched them both.

As for Monsters Inc, Ill wait for the Best Buy deal.

Visit New York city and you will find oodles of stores that break street date. Depending on how well run your local Walmart is, that is another good candidate to catch an early release at.
