South Park Season 13 Blu-ray

South Park Season 13 Blu-ray Review

Quote:
Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring 'South Park: The Complete Thirteenth Season' to Blu-ray on March 16. This three-disc set will feature all 14 episodes from the season uncensored. Technical specs have not been announced at this time, though the Blu-ray release of 'South Park: The Complete Twelfth Season' featured a 1080i AVC video and Dolby TrueHD soundtrack presentation.

The sole special feature will be mini-commentaries by creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone on all episodes.

Wonder why?...Can't get much better picture than DVD since it's such a rudimentary source.Oh well, maybe less disc-swapping.

If you haven't watched the 12th season in HD i suggest you do. You can actually see more detail on the textures they used for each character. It's actually kind of cool IMO.

I own season 12 on BD and it's MUCH BETTER than DVD. Not only is the picture fantastic but the lossless sound is amazing. Particulary on episodes like their Heavy Metal spoof which is music and sound effects laden! Rent it on blu and see for yourselfs. I personally will be picking up future seasons on blu day one.

I bought Season 12 on Day 1 (like I have for every season), but this time it wasn't worth it. I watched the first disc and realized how horrible this show has become. Every episode on the first disc of Season 12 was forgettable, it's like watching a Mike Myers movie, they only focus on current events that don't hold their humor a year later.

I miss the golden age of South Park. Mainly Seasons 4 - 9.

Interesting--I think South Park has held up pretty well. Certainly much better than The Simpsons, which hasn't been good for about 10 years.

I agree that season 12 was pretty weak but season 13 was amazing. This season had a few episodes that I would rank in the top episodes of the show all-time.

I've read a lot of people saying that Season 12 wasn't as good, I caught some episodes of Season 13, I'm guessing, and they were funny. I'm thinking about buying both seasons, but wanna wait til the price goes down.

I wish they put the earlier seasons on BD. I watched the tourettes (sp?) episode not long ago and thought it was hilarious.

This is a show that often goes up and down, especially since they try to be topical with current events.

Paramount wised up and made season 13 in 1080p for the BDs, whereas season 12 is in 1080i on the BDs.

The other odd thing about Season 12... they didn't switch to full-HD animating until about halfway through that season... so the Season 12 Blu ray contains essentially zoom/crop to 16x9 for many season 12 early episodes.

The back half of Season 12 on Blu looked much better than the front half... and I expect all of Season 13 to look that good.

I whole-heartily agree.. albeit Margaritaville and Fishticks were really excellent episodes, overall - the comedic consistency stopped after Season 11 (which was genius) .. now you'll get a a cpl of gems in Season 12 and 13, but not enough warranted to buy the entire Season - especially since you can re-watch every episode online.

I really feel the series Jumped the Shark with "The List" November 14, 2007.

I thought season 12 was a great season. Season 13 was very good overall as well. For those that have not watched this in HD, there really is a big difference between these and the DVDs (atleast to my eyes).
