I have a WD-73734 Mitsubishi 73" DLP 1080p HDTV problem! I've had this TV for 2 years without having to replace the bulb once but just recently I started noticing black specks inside the screen. There was one at first than they're starting to appear all over. Could it be just dust inside the screen? Dead pixels? Should I replace the bulb? Please help!!!

I have a 57" Mits that was progressively was getting darker. It turned out to be the bulb was going out. Having specks appear on the screen almost sounds like dust on the bulb (Don't quote me on this). I would pull the bulb out of the back and inspect it. There is a lot of dust particles that flow near the bulb. That could be causing your specks. Otherwise, I would check http://www.mitsubishi-tv.com/ for a new bulb. They were actually the cheapest I could find and it comes in the new case and everything. Easy to install yourself. Let me know what you find. Good Luck!!!

Definitly not dead pixels. Did you put in a new bulb or same one? If you t.v. is still under warranty then you have that option. It sounds like dust though to me. I had a tiny, flying bug get inside my dlp mitsubishi one time, and could see it flying around the screen. Had to wait for the damn thing to die or escape.

Yeah that's what my brother said as well...what should I do? My warranty is expired and the repair guy said I'm looking at at least $750 in repair...should I just sell this thing and buy a new TV? I really like this DLP and don't want to lose it but thinking about the repair cost I can buy a whole new LCD just smaller...

my warranty through Mitsubishi expired in November, but I just found out that since I paid with my AMEX card, they extended my warranty an extra year from the manufacturers warranty. So I may end up getting mine fixed for minimal to no charge at all, so I will give AMEX a call on Monday. So if you paid for yours with a credit card, you may wanna see if they have an extended warranty policy through that particular card company as well. Just another option.

I'm a little worried after reading thru this. I bought a MITSUBISHI 73" DLP WD73736 in April of 2009. Is there any more word of problems with these? I did notice a black speck at the very bottom center of my screen, but figured it was just dust. Hope it's not a major problem. I love the TV! Blu-rays look amazing on it and I really wouldn't trade it for anything.
