Default Portable Blu-ray players... when?

Anyone have any info I have not seen on whether or not anyone is working to release a portable BD player? Kinda curious.

I'm not sure that a portable BD player would server much of a purpose, what's the point of a 1920 x 1080 screen if it's only 6" or so?

Granted I understand you lose the purpose of an HD disc on a portable player, but like dvd's - how are you to watch your movie collection on the go? In the car with kids? What about home movies when you go visit family friends and they don't have a BD player?

Just some points, but yes - I don't believe the HD part will be useful on a 7" screen.

I think most dvds look there best on my 1000$ pani portable dvd player lol I doubt youd gain much having a blu-ray one
Because it's easier to have courage from a safe distance away.

Here is where the 'problem" begins.......say in the future Blu-Ray wins and eventually replaces DVD completely. Then you will definitely want/need portable players....car players, etc.

Also....take a look at my situation. I have a mini-van with a DVD system in it. If there is a movie that my kids like and I also like, I have to buy both the BD version and the regular version so that they can watch it in the vehicle.

So, it's not so much the size of the screen and value of the hi-def pic....it's more practicallity.

I will be buying the POTC 3 in both versions as well as Spiderman 3.

I would be very surprised if a number of CE manufacturers don't have plans to make comparitively low cost Blu-ray players designed to be vehicle-borne for consumers such as you and I. I definitely don't want "combo discs"; I want a low cost player that will play both our new BDs as well as our older standard DVDs.
