Well, I can no longer stand watching anything on a DVD. I tried comparing the playback of my DVDs on my PS3 and my standard DVD player and they both look terrible. I have been so spoiled by BluRay and the Hi-Def realm that there just is NO TURNING BACK!
Amazon...here I come! DVD sale bonanza!!! I assume either all or 95% of you here have the same thoughts?

I feel ya. I really wanted to get Hot Fuzz, but I really have a hard time investing in DVD's anymore. I just watched Raiders of the Lost Ark the other day, and the once fabulous restoration on the DVD was all of the sudden very unimpressive. A sad revelation for me.
You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you. They will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.

I've stopped buying DVD's altogether - a one time weekly event. I'll still watch them, but only if they're not avalible on Blu Ray. I'm hoping it will just be a matter of time until everything is avalible on blu ray.

Only last year did Beatles fanatics like myself see the release of George Harrison's Concert For Bangladesh on DVD. When I first got it, I could not believe my eyes at how beautiful it looked. Fast forward to a week ago when I watched it again on my PS3 I was shocked at how appauling it looked.
It is sad to sit and ponder at how long it will be before concerts and movies that fit this bill that were only just first released on DVD after 36yrs, will see their BluRay release. Beatles Anthology, also comes to mind. And yes, apollo 18, my DVD buying days are over as well.

I sell or trade out any DVD that I see a BD successor confirmed for that I feel merits the upgrade.

Amazon is the way to go. I have been selling DVDs on there since 2001 and have probably sold around 300 since then.
I dumped most of the DVDs and narrowed it down to must haves before getting into Blu Ray, but now I am looking to dump probably the remaining 98% and replace with BluRay. Amazon, unlike eBay does not charge you a listing fee. Also, they accept Visa and MC, unlike eBay who only allows you to pay via check, money order or PayPal. Amazon, hands down is the way to go to sell your DVD collection.

I agree with you guys I thought about posting the same thing before. There really is no going back for me either. I just can bring myself to buy DVD's anymore (except for TV series) and the rest I buy on Blu-ray or if it is an exclusive like the Borne trilogy I will pass until Uni comes the blu side!

I will only buy DVDs in the future if there is no hope of a BD. I have no plans to replace my existing DVDs with BDs though. DVDs through my blu-ray player look pretty good. You know you aren't watching a BD, but they still look pretty good.
The difference is not nearly as great as the gap between VHS tapes and DVD. Since I saw my first DVD I don't think I've watched a single VHS movie, even though I had plenty of good movies on tape. (The tapes were recently given away). |

Well, it is official. I listed over 60 of my DVDs for sale on Amazon last night. As they sell I will be picking up some BluRays for sure. When, they all sell, I will be left with probaly about 5 DVDs for throwing out the car window as I drive down the highway...

Was thinking about listing some of my stuff on Amazon, but they do take a little cut. can't remember how much but it was not too bad.
I listed 95 dvds on Ebay - the trick is to list them at the lowest fee for ebay. Initially, I had my dvds listed for 1.00 on turbo lister. I calculated fees and it would have been 45 bux. However, I read ebays policy on fees and noticed that I could save a buttload by adjusting my price down by 1 cent or 1 dollar to save money. I did this and my insertion fees dropped to 25 bux total. All in dropping my price by a penny. Thats where the trick lies. The question now is, how much did ebay charge me in the final value fee. Its a ploy. Ebay charges to list, a fee for the money you make and a fee for getting the money (paypal). Someone is getting ****ing rich. |
